Ooooh thanks, thats made my day, you caught my eye in that hat at Stratford....JayW wrote:Your insurance wasn't in question, the MID clearly shows it's insured. Now.
Love you too x
Anyway, Im glad your minds at rest, my gaffer was fully aware I had borrowed the "trades" and we had added the BX on to our Insurance policy (anything driven not owned by us outside of working hours has to be added online) so all bases were covered.
That radio cassette Todd is late 80s tastic, works fine and got to say the sound quality is spot on! although the sound knob comes off if you trun it on to sharpish!
Lots of Motors, mostly semi broken....

Well done on the red one, looks nice. That radio cassette is the same as mine, Phillips, pretty cool bladerunner graphics. I'm in Nottingham this Fri. I can't not go and have a look at that 16tzs if it's still there. It's identical to mine.

um, I'm not sure why there's such a keen emphasis on keeping this thread solely about the red car. It's been bought, so end of thread in this section, if you want to be that much of a pedant about it. Having a conversation within a thread is fine.
Carry on.
Carry on.
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!
Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...

Yeah I posted in that one too. There are many separate threads in the fabric of space-time.
I plan to go to the Cxmantiagsa rally Saturday for a few hours. I'm dreaming of a 22trs CX alot these days.

Good evening Chris, docchevron wrote:........if you want to be that much of a pedant about it.........
It's not being a case of pedantic, its just that the thread for the White TZS got a bit lost on its way (Nuneaton rather than long Eaton), also if its for sale (IMHO) its best to keep all the info/interest in one thread, so that forum members are fully aware of its situation (As relevant info may get missed/lost if someone has an interest in it) if there's bits of info here and there !
Tim doesn't think so !docchevron wrote:......It's been bought, so end of thread in this section .....
Why would he have carried on posting more updates ?Roverman wrote:New fan belt and tyres fitted today (by moi)
Exhaust and wishbones next, booked in for an MOT a week on Monday!
Thank you, docchevron wrote:.................Having a conversation within a thread is fine.

BTW Chris, are you going to either the CXM meeting or the Stratford meeting, it would be a pleasure to meet up again (That's provided I'm going) ?

Let me know how you get on Max. What time were you thinking of going? I will be around Friday night and could meet up for a beer?.
Chris, I can set up a new thread if anyones arsed, but seems sensible to keep this one going to me.
Anyway back to the red TZD

For what its worth I spoke to the owner yesterday. Hes a Citroen trained mechanic who has maintained the car which was owned by his dad since new. Its been off the road since 2004 but regularly started and 'moved around'.
He's prepared to MOT it (the garage is an MOT centre) and put a new battery in for anyone interested/offering a fair price. It needs a good clean up, theres green gunk on it from a tree, but theres very little rust (two small bits at base of rear door frame which he stuck his pen through! - usual spots). Body work is straight and interior is good condition, which he said would be like new with a bit of work.He put a new gearbox in a few years back and has replaced many of the hydraulic pipes. Is been serviced regularly.
Taking this at face value I guess the real concern is what happens to a car which hasnt been used properly for seven years. At very least the brakes will need doing and all the liquids will need changing. I think it was Defender who pointed out a key issue re buying a BX. If you can get a well set, taxed, good straight car for say 700 quid, then spending half of that on something with a high risk of needing considerable investment may not be the best option. Of course the other point is the need to save these cars, so its then a question of the resources and skills people have. Id be tempted to go for this but would need to pay for all but the basic works. I hope to be in a position sometime to not have to rely on a mechanic to do the work, then maybe I could bring a BX back to life!
Having said that, I'll be interested to hear the feedback from anyone viewing as my daughter may be interested

Its all down to what you could buy it for then really, if you could get it as is for £200/£250 say then its worth while, as the body is really nice as is the interior.
Failing that with a years MOT and fresh battery £4-45000 ish would still be in my mind a good purchase, as Anaconda pointed out, the day when theres so little BX's left for us to umm and arrr over isnt that far away. Yes it will need brakes and fluids, but these are cheap and plentiful, the last set of brake discs I bought were £12 and the pads £8.
This red TZD a few years ago I wouldnt have been interested as it hasnt got the plastic windows and im not a fan of red unless its a valver!, times change though.

I don't think we are at or ever will be at the stage where you would need to buy a petrol if you wanted a diesel or visa versa. There are still plenty out there coming up for sale on a regular basis at the moment.Philip Chidlow wrote:Tim's right: It's almost a case of getting almost any BX you can these days...
BTW; I have to agree with Rick, this thread is a little confusing and discussing the White TZS would be simpler in the thread created for this particular 'White TZS' rather than one created for the 'Red TZD' would it not

Sorry Kevan, I disagree mate, look at how many Mk1's BX are left, also do you ever see a BX on the road in daily use? hardly any, when did you last see a Mk2 19RD???Defender110 wrote:I don't think we are at or ever will be at the stage where you would need to buy a petrol if you wanted a diesel or visa versa. If you look at "how many left" it shows the decline year on year.
