I was quoted £245 by Footman James for my TGD Auto, I insured it with Peter Best for £108 in the end. I had my Jensen insured throught FJ though.

When i got the valver last year i insured it with Lancaster Insurance for £75 fully comp. Quote this year from Lancaster was £150  so shopped around and cheapest quote was from Sure Term Direct at £99 fully comp, however both companies share the same address. So read into that what you will. :?

Conditions are that you need have use of another car and i've restricted mileage to 3000 per year. Other than that no special clause. I'm 41 yrs old if that makes any difference. I have a Honda Firestorm 1000cc v-twin bike which i pay £63 tpft. My ex-neighbour is 21 yrs old and pays £1200 for a '91 Golf Gti 8v. :!:

One thing I will say, you don't have to ring around every year, but it's definitely worth doing every couple of years. FJ suddenly went horrific for me some years ago. Went elsewhere but going back to them as a new customer a bit later resulted in competitive quotes once again. Insurers do punish laziness!

Also, I'm yet to find a classic car insurer's website that gives quotes as good as you get by actually phoning up.

I change my insurance every year, i keep collecting these no claims discounts, but the premiums still keep rising, its a joke tbh. I don't see the point in having them, its supposed to show that you are a better risk, but insurance companies don't seem to take this into account. In the end because of various staff discounts that i get, i took it out with Aviva as they were the cheapest by miles.

I was with Aviva a couple of years ago (Norich Union as it was then) when my son wrote off my Mercedes C class, Their claims department were absolutely superb guiding me through every step with a genuine enthusiasm to help. They settled the claim very very quickly to a figure I was very happy with. After they had settled they even had an adviser ring me to help me find a suitable similar replacement car. One of my neighbours had the same experience with them and like me he can't recommend them highly enough. Unfortunately they don't really like grey imports or modified vehicles so weren't competative enough with my current grey import Mitsubishi. 10 out of 10 for customer relations / claims.

resurrected thread..

Can't believe I didn't try this before... £195 for two BX's parked on the street in central Bristol with Peter James

We were paying nearly £300 for 1 BX until now - the lack of garage or modern everyday car didn't seem to be a problem either..

Funny this should just come up. I've just sorted out the classic policy for both my cars with Footman James. Both cars on one policy; fully comp, full breakdown cover etc. etc. - £124! I couldn't bliddy believe it. It's saving me a fortune!! :D

 That is incredibly cheap!

Got a quote from elephant for the GT, quoted £1800, not paying that.

I'm just going to have to tax and temporarily insure the GT when I want to use it, a massive pain in the arse, but no classic insurance company will insure me with 6 points... When i'm 25 they'll be gone and I will be able to use the full market, rather than the few who will insure under 25's.

I'm paying £650 for my 1.4 mk2 astra atm with Elephant, much less than last year (£850) but still far too much for what it is. I was going to fit GTE brakes and swap the rear drums for discs this summer, but doing this will increase the premium by 200ish! Better brakes=increased risk??! I don't think so.

Hmm interesting idea, it's registered to me though so would that be an issue? Putting my dad and stepdad on my astra's policy knocked £250 off it so will try that too, but not going to worry about it too much until the summer when it will need sorting!
