Rear bumper strip

Post by anaconda »

A seemingly common occurence, the black plastic covering on the rear bumper strip has separated from the the metal piece beneath, so im looking for a new set.

Im assuming this strip will prise off and snapback on the car again so as a plan B i'll remove the metal strip and try to reglue the plastic on, however would prefer a new set if there's any out there.

Thanks

You and every other BX owner, peel off the plastic and paint is the usual option. Yes they do just prize off.

Thanks Kevan.

So remove the trim take all the plastic off and paint the metal black? I used smooth Hammerite on the sills at the weekend so will double up.

When i did mine i warmed the vinyl trim with a camping gaz burner and scraped it off with a stanley knife blade. Flatted back with wet and dry and black primer and then two or three coats of satin black. Easy job though patience and prepartion are key. As i found out.

Rich, I would imagine there are no subjects on the BX that haven't been covered on here before. What do you suggest we do; shut down the forum and just use it as a reference library?
