Speedometers got to luv erm

Post by kiwi »

And only one of them has anything close to correct on readings compared to actual speed all of them the correct size tyres.

19TZS 106kph reads 100kph
19TRS 97kph reads 100kph < well its close
19TXD 90 kph reads 100kph (well that ones in MPH but I used the red lines)

So 16kph (10mph) differance between cars....would be an interesting convoy combination

So all these years before GPS became the fad and we have been cursing that slow car infront well this just goes to show even at the correct speed you just dont know if thats the true speed.

I believe so, but it's not too hard to keep sufficiently constant!

The TZS would be (technically) illegal over here, Cuntstruction & Use states a Speedo "may not under-read"... Fortunately, as we all know you don't have ANY laws over that side of this little wet rock
I have zero patience for your tedium.

 Jayw

Speedometer accuracy is the curse of motoring over here. It is ironic though that most the Jap imports over here read 10kph high yet the amount of people complaining about getting caught with speeding tickets just shows how much over the speedlimts they are actually doing and what there speedos must have been reading at the time

10kph over read plus 10kph tolerance thats 20kph to play with yet not enough obviously to some..

I think the TZS at some time must have been calibrated because I posted here before what happened when I swaped speedometer heads around. The only speed that the TZS is spot on it 50kph below that it starts to faster than actual (the opposite of 100+)

Must admit though the KMs on the MPH speedos are difficult to read at night so its quite nice to be zooming along the open roads here at just under 70mph on the speedo  The furious mental recalculations when entering differant speed zones keeps you awake.

Places seem so much closer in miles as well
