Tracking

Post by toddao »

I had my tracking adjusted a few weeks back but the mechanic wasn't too clued up about hydraulic Citroens. He did the adjustment in the second highest setting rather than 'normal' which I only realised afterwards. He drove it and said it was fine but having just changed the tyres to winter ones I've noticed excessive wear on the outer tread of the summer tyres.
I think it has to be adjusted again at normal height to get the tracking spot on as just going up a couple of centimetres surely changed the angle? I can't find anything in the BX workshop manuals.
Any thoughts appreciated before I go back and have a word with the mechanic.

Cheers
Todd

in short, yes, the tracking HAS to be set at normal ride height, ok, the difference in angle isn't massive, but it's enough..
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...

What he said.

When I had the TZS done the guy could not find the correct camber for the TZS in his book of settings. He had several ddifferant settings for differant BX models, I can not remeber what we settled on as the closest but tyre wear was not that bad an issue.

If its at normal height, how do they fit the lazer target devices on the rear wheels?

On mine, they had to fetch longer clamps, or an extension or something to fit the laser tracking shizz to the rear wheels in normal height.

They fit the metal clamps over the rear wheels while the car is in high position then they do actually fit under the rear arches when it goes lower. I had mine done in the local 'KIA' dealership which was the closest place with the equipment - not surprisingly the young guy said he'd never seen a BX before. All the settings of the camber angles were on a database though. He was very professional just missed a setting on the height adjustment lever.

I'm going back on Monday - they don't really get it yet so some explaining to do and hopefully won't have to cough up another €60..
