Just because you can't manage to better that, then don't start saying its impossible. Even my 40 mile commute to work i can get 50-53mpg, so on a run i do surprisingly get more. I would imagine that if i drove even slower i'd get even more mpg. Try driving differently if you can be arsed
Sorry, bud,
didnt mean to upset you nor call you a liar. Just having a rant as i cannot with my driving style do as well as yourself. Ime not a boy racer but i like the drive diesels hard as i think they are better for it.

No worries, i was in a bad mood when i wrote that

I don't particularly try all that hard to get the fuel economy that i've been quoting & there is no way that i can't give the car a good blast of revs now & again, its usually some twonk up my arse so they get smoked literally  What i find particularly good is putting in some of my old engine oil in the tank, nice smoke is produced when i press the loud pedal, it soon shifts anyone too close behind me

I just make decent progress without having to hammer the car. Like for instance at lights, i don't dither, i'm away & in 2nd gear by the time most idiots realise that they are green, so i don't hold anyone up, infact my progress is usually held up at some point by someone doing 40 in a 50 :x

Good luck with it Adrian.. As I mentioned, doing the long hours I am I don't have time for tinkering anymore which is a shame because I did actually really like the BX despite my girlfriends dislike for it.
As for scrapping it.. That was a last resort to be honest. I have never scrapped a car before and hate the thought of it. I have three classic cars and all three are rather rare although not overly desirable it makes me quite sad how people would scrap my choice of classic so easily so for me to scrap the Citroen (your choice of classic) so easily without even trying to rehome it would seem a bit mean and a bit two faced perhaps.:)
The Citroen has been replaced with a 17 year old Honda Accord so still driving something nearly as old daily.
My three classics..

Sorry to bother you guys and I wish you all the best.
I hope it lives a long and trouble free life with somebody with more time than myself with more enthusiasm for it than me.

Nice looking early Marina that. I forgot I had two Marina Saloons, well one was the renamed Ital. The only problem I ever had was a continuous battery drain which turned out to be a boot light switch.

Yes, two separate Marina's, both of which belong to me. The snowy one was in daily use until the recent job change and is very dependable.
The top picture has been recently resprayed and has never been welded.
I really like the colour, really suits the period and the Marina.. Long live BL! I had a Maxi as well recently in a similar colour but that had to go.. The later ones had hydrolastic suspension which is nitrogen filled but not servicable.. No spares available and I felt like I was on borrowed time. Shame really as it was a tidy little car.

Indeed, but that's not necessarily a bad thing! Well, ok, it was pushing it a bit by 1984 when the Ital was still on sale...

Not saying it isnt, the Morris Minor was and still is in my book a wonderful car, still got my Series MM. Just suprised they didnt have the balls to call it an 'upgrade' as the Cyberman say.

If I could find a series 2 marina 1.7, with rubber bumpers, in nice condition, I'd go for that....

Done a bit more work on this car now... this is one very neglected and bodged bx

Replaced the mega tight accumulator.. tick time up from 1 sec to 10 now..
PAS still a bit stiff sometimes.. need to dump the very yellow / brown lhm for some hydraflush... probably need another pump though as it takes a while to get from the lowest height to the highest and the pump's pretty noisy..

Drained the browny / pink ATF for some nice pinky pink dextron II.. going to replace that and clean the filters soon..

Fixed the intermittent starting problem by reconnecting one of the thicker wired plugs by the air box...
It'd had a big stereo installed at some point but the wiring's really hacked around.. plugs disconnected everywhere, new relays sliced in and cable tied inside freezer bags. Someone had even powered an amp or something at the back by jamming wires into the rear light connector block...

Underneath it looks like someone's vented their anger on the subframe as there's so many jacking dents!

Was going to do the belt and waterpump yesterday too but kind of knew the tensioners would need doing too and couldn't get those in time but i'm definitely on borrowed time here...

Still enjoying cruising round town in an auto though and since removing the wheel trims for kevan I'm liking the keyed and neglected urban look more and more...

That accy sphere will be causing your pump to really struggle, i'd get it change asap along with the knackered lhm. Hydraflush has really transformed Paul296's car when i did it for him a couple of weeks ago. He's really impressed with the ride, brakes are much better & the steering is so much smoother, it kinda brings back a tired car to feeling a lot fresher if that makes sense.
