BX GTi for sale. Very very reluctant. New MOT, 5 months tax

Post by Mr.Majestic »

This is just a copy and paste for my advert thats soon to be in a few more listing sites, so you will already know one or two things about the car.

Citroen BX 1.9 GTi
1993 - K154STT
Hpi report through Mitsubishi Exeter - clear.
Genuine 62k miles
Brand new MOT, the advisory was the loose handbrake cable so it was changed along with a front caliper (handbrake is on the front wheels), now very tight and strong.
Just over 5 months tax

Sensible offers please

I have had it for only 4 months after literally waiting for years for the previous guy to sell it. I had one when I was younger and wish I never got rid of it, so wanted to try and reclaim some of my youth before it all goes wrong!

I use it as my daily commuter for a 20 mile round trip to and from work, regular trips to Cornwall and Worcester and hasn't missed a beat in the 2+ thousand miles I've covered, and to my calculations has returned me about 35 -37mpg on a mix of mid length/town driving.

Gear changes are smooth, engine is strong, hasn't used any oil and doesn't smoke/over heat at all.
Suspension rises as soon as the engine is switched on and works completely as it should.
There are no knocks and steering is very tight. I, and I'm pretty certain none of the previous owners have ever driven it hard - it's not that kind of car. It also idles perfectly.

Longlife stainless steel exhaust (put on by 2nd owner Mike @ Swallow garage) which looks standard but has a really nice tone to it. I'm not one for brash exhausts, this one is really nice and shouldn't ever need replacing.

No rust anywhere and is solid as a rock. A few minor age related dings, but really nothing much to notice at all. Good tyres, one brand new. New wheel trims all round, as a previous one over took me a few weeks ago before flying off into a garden. I still have the 3 originals should you need them.
I think you can still get originals through Citroen dealers....

Unfortunately no stereo (I have now found one for the new owner if required) - I had to put one in, and need to take it with me. The rear speakers need replacing as the rubber around the cones have perished. Easy job - but the sound from the speakers in these cars are notoriously rubbish!

The interior is in excellent condition - apart from the digital clock which is very dim!?!
Windows/sunroof/heating system work completely fine.
The back seats fold totally flat and is huge inside is space is needed.

The only reason I am selling this car is because we now have a dog and he needs to be caged and it wont fit in the BX without seats down etc etc and is a complete pain as I give alot of people lifts to and from places of work so need them up most of the time. I wasn't expecting the hound to need a cage so this sale is with massive reluctance - unless the dog gets lost......!

Invoiced history starting at 49k but 8 years ago from 3rd owner Mr.Aggett (chap I bought from). He loved the car.
MOT's back to 2003

All work carried out by Mike @ Swallow garage (Pugeot Citroen specialist) in Marsh Barton, Exeter. I've used him for years and there is nothing he doesn't know about these motors.
It was his vehicle before the history started, and can tell you its history from new.
It's had an easy life. Mike inherited the car from its first lady owner.
He bought it with a misfire and suspect head gasket faliure, so it was all replaced. It wasn't the head gasket at all in the end, it was some small £2 heat sink on the spark circuit
that needed replacing - so the car effectively has a new head gasket!

Previous owner:
49809miles - 04.11.04 - Change oil/filter
49913m - 25.11.04 - Drain/re-fill coolant system
51295m - 05.10.05 - Replace c/v boot
51490m - 19.1.06 - Replace heater matrix
51720m - 14.6.06 - Replace both rear suspension spheres
08.10.06 - New battery
53670m - 02.5.07 - Check brakes, tyres, lights, oil, replace spark plugs and air filter
53699m - 09.4.08 - Fit petrol cover
53796m - 28.5.08 - Fit suspension return pipe
54131m - 01.10.08 - Fit light switch and relay
52390m - 10.1.09 - Replace ignition switch and heater matrix
54502m - 26.4.09 - Replace suspension and steering return piping
54801m - 14.10.09 - Replace oil ....(can't read it!) unit
55071m - 09.3.10 - Replace clutch
57170m - 19.8.10 - Sunroof replacement
59528m - 11.5.11 - Change suspension/brake fluid, clean filters
Since I owned it:
62185m - 11.10.11 - New caliper and handbrake cable for MOT.

I've been as honest as I can about this car, it's a cracker and although its almost 20 years old it has a long life ahead of it still.
It's not a money pit, you can use it everyday without worry, it's a real head turner, you will be let out of junctions much easier
than you expect and the novelty of up and down suspension never wears off!! Will be very sad to see it go.

Please email me on owengleeson1982@yahoo.com for any further enquiries, I am based at EX5 5PA, Thorverton, Nr Exeter.

A really attractive ad, but lacking two imprtant elements I feel: pics and a price.

Good luck with the sale.

If it looks as good in the flesh as the piccy, then that looks fantastic, & its a great colour as well. Should sell easily, as long as there is a bit of flexibility on price it should hopefully find a new owner.

I'm doing the sensible thing. Which is pretty rare for me. I bought a diesel Rover 75 estate to replace this thing.....its like chalk vs cheese. My other motor is a 318is so I can still have fun on the weekends, but I will miss her. Not many around like this I know. Shame really.
