What a shame, I would imagine it is not replaceable after 25 years of owning it. 'Taken in the early hours of New Years Eve' perhaps an easy to steal drunken joy ride for someone so may turn up.

It's of little (no) consolation to the owner, but you can make a simple and cheap tracker system with an old mobile phone. Just put a PAYG SIM card into the phone, put it on silent and hide it somewhere in the car connected up to a 12V charger. If it's ever stolen, to find its location use one of the sites which are designed to keep track of kids with mobiles.

Obviously it won't work if taken somewhere out of mobile coverage, but it's very low cost and will still work for a few days even if the battery is disconnected.

Another classic gone, a green DS Safari (original owner Sir Alec Guiness) was stolen not long before christmas, incedibly rare being a R and has been in a few tv shows too.
Bought new by Sir Alec Guinness this is a factory ordered semi-automatic; the French can't believe this was available in a Safari! It also recently featured in "Driving Lessons" with Julie Walters and Rupert Grint. This car will have full body restoration back to its original colour.
