So what happenes if they do stop a white car? Do they then have to let the next 4 motorists get off scot free?

Police Check.

Post by bx petrol auto saloon »

Hi Mat.
Very very funny
And I suppose that if the white car had a black roof, they would let the
next seven cars off scott free :?:
Besides they need to stop WHITE cars, as they are in the WHITE CAR
it is a Panda car you see

Other plod stops in old cars - 1954 Morris Minor - you didn't indicate and there is somthing flapping abouit from the side of your car....."it's called a trafficator officer"
My brother had a similar experience in his splitty - "Do you realise you have a red turn signal showing on the back of your van?" "Do you realise this van was built in 1959 and can legally have a red turn signal on the back?" "Oh, er, why aren't you wearing your seatbelt?" "Show me the seatbelt & I'll wear it!" "Ah, oh, er, ok - safe journey sir".

I got stopped in the GS last week in Carmarthen, when I was on my way the Pembroke dock to catch the ferry to Ireland. They did a quick check of the tyres and tax but they really just wanted to find out what it was and why I had a pair of tyres and a door in the back!

I've never been stopped in the BX, disappointing.

Did get stopped for "nearly hitting a kerb" a while ago (which was due to swerving out of the way of the police car coming head on at speed on my side of the road, which then promptly turned round and pulled me over! I was pretty annoyed because the pizza on the back seat was getting cold).

Semi-plod experience, was reminded by a post I made elsewhere.

The layby on the left is where the camera-van was parked that caught me doing 37ish in a 30 zone, in Cannock. Can you see those distinctive signs 20yds behind? Who really transfers from a 30 to a NS zone at precisely 30? Oh well, thought I'd got away with it too as I hadn't tied my lighting board to the numerous bicycles on the boot. My ensuing "speed awareness course" was part OAP club (that surprised me) and part UKIP brainwashing meeting.

That's very harsh Willy! I'm quite surprised you were only doing 37 tbh, as you say, nobody actually changes speed at the sign, it's either before (lower to higher limit) or after (higher to lower limit).

I'm afraid we're all guilty of getting upto speed before the actual sign says you can do so, which is a motoring offence i'm afraid, upto the sign you are still within the designated speed limit for that part of the road.

This type of camera placement is nothing more than money collection, what they should do is target where people are deliberately speeding in areas where the consequences for pedestrians are high, i'd have no problem with that.

Actually, on the rare occasions that I'm driving something with actual power, I do wait right until the sign to nail it. Mustard mitt though, when I'm in the 2CV, I usually accelerate well early. I need an advantage!

When I'm in something with power, I find it mildly amusing (if someone is tailgating me through the 30 limit, which often happens) to wait right until the sign to really floor it...

Im gonna have to get in on the nailing it when you reach the speed signs thing........

Ask mr dollywobbler and mr spanners about the 1300cc dyane i had on the 4 speed short gearing. Hmmm would walk away from most things if timed right. It REALLY upset some people :) :)

To do that here they place the camera vans at the end of an overtaking lane.

That practice does not work in the area I live in! For one the overtaking lane north of here is to short to get more than one alert motorist passed and the other well its a hill and the slowest part of the hill is after the passing lane ends!

If they set a camera an in the village it would make a mint going from 100 to 70kph! However the law states placement not within 250 metres of a changed limit and that would not be possible on this road.
