Green BX 16v For Sale

Post by Tim2cv »

Hi all,
I am sorry to say that my First House Forces Reluctant Sale Of The Green Beast!!! ?
The day has come that property rules over many cars.
I am offering the car on the forum first before EBay, in the hope that a fellow Citroen enthusiast or friend / family of a forum member will want the car.
Now I am poor I cannot spend the time on the car as it will be spent on my house, I have also lost a fair bit of storage so any spares I have will be going too. I would like to sell the car and parts together so that the new owner can finish what I have started in making this car as great as it can be!

Good Points:
1992 'J' Reg - registered 09.04.92,so this is one of the latest ones without cat.
Triton Metallic Green, the rarest colour?
107k miles.
4 owners
Cat' 1 Alarm and Immobilizer (Clifford Concept 300)
MOT until September'06.
TAX until August'06.
14” original alloys in good condition with excellent P6000’s (one nearly new)
Good history file with all receipts and paperwork for the last 5 years and some from previous owners.
Everything works on the car and I look after it well. Good oil pressure and I never thrash my cars.

Spares package:
Included in the sale of the car are the following spare parts (in no particular order) that I have collected.
Drivers front door (Triton metallic green)
Drivers rear door (Triton metallic green)
Passenger front door (Triton metallic green)
Tailgate - complete (Triton metallic green)
Bonnet (Triton metallic green)
Front bumper (Grey)
Front bumper (Grey)
Rear bumper (Grey)
Rear bumper (Red)
Rear light clusters with green tint.
Radiator 2nd hand
Headlight
Airbox (complete and undrilled) + mtg plate
Airbox (lower half only and undrilled) + mtg plate.
Air mass meter assembly.
Ignition amplifier.
coolant expansion bottle.
Clutch (bespoke with custom double springs and diesel linings).
New back box
And various other bits and bobs I may have.
Also a set of Brand new pressed aluminum French style number plates!

Bad points:
1) Main beam blue back lighting bulb just gone
2) The bodywork in places - the car has never had paintwork and so is stones chipped on the front bumper & exposed edge of the rear arch extensions. There are a couple of scratches and small marks on the doors and the rear bumper has been poorly repaired on one of the corners by a previous owner.
3) It needs a new rocker cover gasket but these are cheap and easy to change, I just haven’t

Just being very honest and would be best explained if you viewed the car. This is why there are green doors and body panels in the spares package. If you've seen the car at FCS with its previous owner Mike P or at other events with me you will know that the car still cleans and polishes up well.

Since I have owned this car I have fitted a new caliper, discs and pads, radiator, thermostat and fan switch, accumulator sphere, cv boot, cam belt, alternator belt & pump belt, full TOTAL lhm change and I have also upgraded the speakers to JBL but it can be returned to standard if the new owner wishes. Door hinges and rear arches are all excellent with no rust. Goes very well, uses no water or oil.

I will miss the car with its road commanding and fun to drive.

The price on this forum for car and parts is £700.
please do not email asking for parts.

I tell you what Tim.

If that thing would run on diesel, it'd be parked outside my house now.

Lovely car, superb colour. despite what Ian thinks

Stunning, really can`t see you having a problem selling that. I`m extremely tempted myself but have too many cars as it is and hopefully by Tuesday I`ll have another again, with the further possibilty of yet another sometime this week coming.
That`s one of the nicest BX`s I`ve seen and the first genuine person to call will snatch your hands off. I`m pretty sure that the condition of it will also mean it will go to an enthusiast who will cherish it and not abuse it.

She's deffo a cracker, I'm half tempted so I can have a pair!

At that price will definitely go to a genuine enthusiast, but it is still a steal in my eyes.

don't be scared, it's not that bad on fuel economy! You lot with your little under powered low cc engines are all doing yourself out of alot of fun! I bet you hardly get over 40mpg from them! ? I can get nearly 30mpg from my new car! Have some real fun! Drive a 16v! ( wish i could keep all my cars! )

Having driven a petrol car round the last week or so I confess I miss a good wallop of power. I have no problems with petrol cars but prefer diesels for day-to-day running due to economical reasons.

Consider the fact that realistically you should be travelling 16k+ a year to actually make it viable to own a diesel now adays i dont know why you lot worry so much about petrol economy! chances are a petrol would save you a few quid! (and you would get to use the outside lane too! :D )

16k?

Well.... at 30mpg in a petrol BX, 16k miles will have cost about £2200. In a TD BX at 50mpg it would have cost £1350.

to me that's a massive difference.

Even at just 5k miles per year, the difference is still £265*. (difference of about £53 per 1000 miles)

*The cost of a whole BX TD......
this might be a signature

a 16v bx does more than 30mpg! the v6 xantia does just over 30mpg... my td xantia only ever did 44mpg most and that was a steady drive through france to switzerland. to make the derv go fast enough to not be overtaken by 1 litre micras etc you haev to give it some effort and hence no fuel economy! its a false economy! derv is more expensive, shell petrol is only 86.9/ltr!
