I told Tim and he thought some of you would be interested. So…
Image

It reminded me of the one from the jigsaw/early marketing material. As its red, and early. erm..its been stood on tarmac at least..erm..well thats all really- photo says it all.

Anyway I don’t even know if it’s for sale but I don’t mind asking when I’m next that way. As you can see from the high res photo it would need a lot of work potentially. Though I think a lot of the stuff on the side is mould etc rather than rust.

So if anyone’s looking for an early Gti 8v restoration project then there you go. I wouldn’t really have mentioned it had it not been an early one- maybe it has an interesting history? Press car/demo being an early one.

As for location well its east of Leeds..but I’m afraid I can’t remember much more than that. I do remember marking it on the map though so I could find it again…

Oh strictly speaking I spotted it in November but looking at the mildew and moss its been there a while so im guessing it still there now..

hope someone finds it interesting,
Phil

Being a D plate it could be anything from Aug 86-July 87, there were some "C" Registered Mk2 press demo's, normally with a CBX reg number.

Even so a very early car, but not for the fainthearted.

judging by the mould and the other vehicles in the yard i wouldnt be at all surprised. On the plus side it could be low mileage

I know theyre round our street every day except sundays-religous reasons?? They offered my mum £100 for the xantia once. Kind souls- i wont tell you what she did..you wouldnt believe me.

Don't think you can call them gippos mate, think its; people who make a legitimate nomadic lifestyle choice. (which may be to avoid taxes)

Barwick garage Leeds. Though youll need to use 151 leeds road on street view..then you can see the BX and some rather interesting vehicles in the yard...Apparently they do restorations. Think i spy herald, forward control landrover, some mock 20s/30s van..

Ahh yes obsesions..spying that da** daimler grill....

anyway come on someone give it a go...

No Phil i REALLY dont want to , i like carb/diesel Bx,s as i am happier working on them, i dont like getting involved with ecu,s and abs etc but as its pretty close to me i dont mind having a look/word with owners and make sure its not in danger of getting squashed , as you know my passion is saving cars from a sticky end and any Bx is worth saving if only to be useful in parts if it isnt saveable as a whole.

I don't know why people are encouraging anyone to 'go for this'. It is in all likelihood rotten as a pear. But hey, each to their own  :)
