Such a beautiful GT that Tim. My favourite mk1 BX colour I think.

Did they come from the factory with colour coded bumpers? Or is it a feature of 86 GT's and not the 85 ones?

IIRC, 86 GT's had wing indicators, body side stripes, no wing GT decals and no trip computer. Whereas the 85 GT's did had GT wing decals, no body side stripes or wing indicator and did have a trip computer.

How is yours? Did it come out this summer to play?

Never been a fan of the beige to be honest, wouldnt have been my first choice, but Ive grown to like it.

On Mk1 and most Mk2 cars they were colour matched bumpers, some were better matches than others, the front one on mine has been repainted at the same time as the bonnet as it was damaged in the accident.

Your right on the 86 my changes, also the interior went from grey or blue (body colour dependant) to black chevron pattern (same as CX GTi) and the electric sunroof became standard.

Shes booked in for a MOT on Thursday (weather dependant) so ones thats passed, she will be taxed and C1 TBX transferred over ready for the warm spring days which seem like a distant memory right now!

Ah, you should have said you didn't like beige Tim. We could have just swapped cars last week. Job done!

Haha £5000  . The reason for my asking Tim, is that the GT I'm viewing on friday has black/dark grey bumpers and I was wondering if they should be the same metallic blue as the body.

Or perhaps, colour coded here means complimentary to the body rather than same as the body, the light blue I think looks nice with dark grey/slatey coloured bumpers. Saying that, I will always wonder if it will look nicer with metallic blue bumpers...

The bumpers on the car you are viewing, look original to me. They will have faded over the years (easily improved on), but would have been a darker shade than the body anyway.

This 19TRD it would have looked when new, albeit without the GT fittings.

Thought so, thanks Tim. I've just bought a GT brochure from 1985 on ebay, so I can see and compare what it is supposed to look like.

I'm well practiced in painting plastics now! Last summer I took most of the exterior plastics off the astra and painted them, I will have to re-do it this summer as they've already faded (crappy halfords paint), I like the look of Plast=X's U-POL range - they have been recommended to me by others too.

I even attempted some filling!
