Jon's 19TGD 1991

Post by Jon Sanderson »

So I'm 3 weeks into BX ownership and so far so good! I thought I'd post a few photos and introduce myself......

Having been a life-long Citroen fanatic with a few cars under my belt (2cv, Visa, Xsara, DS plus a few Pug 205's) I figured it was about time to try a BX. I bought this one from another forum member, 2 owners from new (the first up until 1 year ago) full main dealer service history and 66k on the clock was all very attractive to a non-mechanic like me!

So far I've had it serviced and the cam belt replaced, I've fixed the non-blowing blower, cured a squeaky steering wheel and shampooed the interior. Managed to get some original rubber mats (thanks for the spot, Tim!) and a sunroof wind deflector - on the hunt for some mudflaps but think they might be a hard find! Still some big jobs to do, rear arm bearings and spheres in the next few months and a dozen little jobs that I'll tackle as and when I have the time.

Above all I'm really enjoying driving it - hope to get to some meets soon.

Not yet I'm afraid, I'm in the process of trying to contact him. Hoping it's just another oversight :?

There's something so beautiful and simple about a TG spec BX in that silver, really nice looking car, if it was a 14 i'd be very jealous :D

Lovely looking car! Welcome to BX ownership - you won't regret it, though your credit card might be more circumspect I imagine! Having said that as a died in the wool 'Citroeniste' I'm sure you know that already?

'Gris nacre metallise'/grey/tweed interior on TGs does look nice. There are one or two other fans of that particular combination about these parts - me included.

That 'D' lurking in the background looks very NICE! Do you have any pics of that?

^^ ^^

Thanks Mulley - I'm showing my naivety here but I didn't realise that there were different coloured tints on the rear lights? Would the others have been grey?

They do a pinky red, green, a light smoked(which looks a little bit blue) and a dark smoked.

Hi Paul, well it would be rude not to share a few pictures of the D!

a 1973 DS23 Pallas in 'beige tholonet' with mustard cloth seats and rare front fogs, LHD with semi-auto box. Like driving a space ship - utterly brilliant. I've owned this for almost 5 years now, but alas she's for sale - I just don't drive her enough to justify the maintenance costs (I almost had to re-mortgage the house when the gearbox packed up!). The BX is kind of a DS replacement - and after the DS (these might be famous last words) the BX is going to seem very cheap to run!

I also have a low-mileage 2CV and a very low mileage 205....

Cor, not seen KYE for many years! 205 looks lovely too. They will be a definite classic of the future.
