GENUINE OIL FILTERS £3 each.

Post by Tim Leech »

A mate of mine works for a Citroen dealer, they have a surplus stock of 1109N3 Oil Filters which are very good value.

I can have 10 for £30 if I collect them, which is what I intend to do, which is about £5 less than retail each.

They are in Louth.

Anyone interested?

Postage is about £1 each so makes them not such a bargain so collection at a show preferred.

Brian !
There only £3.12 delivered to your door from GSF ! they also have them for DIESEL models too
GSF Website wrote: Oil Filter CITROËN BX Petrol 82-94
Premium Filter eg Mann, Bosch, Purflux, Corteco, Valeo
Ask them for one manufactured by 'Purflux' if they have one ? that's the same as O/E spec. , but all the others are just as good !

They are genuine Peugeot/Citroen items, the ones I've bought from GSF in the past have always been "mann" filters.

These fit all XU powered BX's, petrol AND diesel.

I've always managed to get a 'Purflux' make, but if they've not got any stock, I've asked them to order some in and just wait a couple of days if need be !

So to sum up, Peugeot/Citroen don't actually manufacture oil filters in house, maybe THIS link will help you understand, (In a Citroen box but a 'Purflux' filter) !

However dearer than GSF if delivered but cheaper than the ones your collecting (As they will allow pick up) and also come with a new copper washer for the sump plug

I understand perfectly  , and of course your are right as always.

And here was me trying to save a few quid.

If anyone wants any of these seemingly not so cheap genuine filters let me know, I will be going up on Monday and happy to pick them up (theres no charge for collection etc!) and store them, they are GENUINE Citroen Peugeot approved ones (not made by Citroen as pointed out of course) in a Citroen box, but of course no copper washer and that isnt delivered.

Or just ask RXBX to get you some, as he knows considerably more than me.......about most things.

A previous work colleague used to work for a Volvo dealer as a mechanic, and what they used to do is if (say) a car came in for a new water pump, they'd book a genuine one out of the stores. Then they'd go down to the motor factors down the road, buy the cheapest pump they could find, fit that to the customer's car and flog the genuine one on eBay!

A very interesting day out, Paul296 and I bought 25 filters between us , but they still have over 200 in stock! Called in at a Citroen enthusiast that Paul knows house enroute, I will let him post the pictures up, but lets say it was rather interesting and he has some BX's, one is a D plate 19RD in Ivory done (with beige interior!!) 85,000 miles its for sale. The others are a 16TGS Athena in dark grey which is spares only but has a good selection of panels/interior and the other is a F reg 19RD in Magentic Blue which is covered in 20 layers of bird shit, setas are good though. I have his number if you are interested in parts or the D plate 19RD

The young parts lad (Edward) at NT Shaw is very helpful and enthusiastic, so worth contacting him as they still have LOTS of BX parts available and he is very negotiable.

I bought 2 new Mk1 Mirrors (they werent cheap), 2 new wiper front arms, 5 filters and a correct touch up kit for the GT (which had been on the shelf since 1996!).

The 19TZI did 180 miles on £30 worth of unleaded and ran perfectly, I washed and polished it this morning, it now looks like its done 200000 miles as its FILTHY!
