I've used a pot of Plastikote "chrome" paint to very good effect: on the chevrons and grille of a GSA and on the faded badges on the back of my ebay BX. It's a very tough finish, and seems to last very well. I guess as an extra measure you could spray a couple coats of clear lacquer over the top. They do a range of colours, including gloss and matt black, in pots and aerosols, available from your nearest B&Q / Homebase.

Well its not mine yet - though I have paid for it (just waiting for the plates to be transferred off it).
Its a bright shiny red TXD, with some sort of astronomical milage, but its been cosseted and cherished by its previous owner... Someone we all know well who will be called "The Verger".

The wife has finally relented.
