Wouldn't air con have been an option on the Hurricane? I think it was an option on the TZ trim level.

What would I (realistically) change? I'd have a variable intermittent wipe, and a sharper feel to the brakes. They're almost there now I've welded up the spring, but I think the remaining difference is down to the ABS system.

The single wiper doesn't bother me, and if rain coming back up the screen was an issue, it's easy to change the side the wiper parks on.

Maybe a higher 5th gear would suit the 1.9TD engine, but as I don't do that many motorway miles at the moment, it's not a big deal.

Just had a quick whizz through the brochures (told you it gets complicated!) Apparently not. There weren't any options on the TZD Hurricane, though ABS (I think that's an 'automatic breakfast server' or something?) was optional on the GTi Hurricane (as it was on the standard TZD)

Swapping the wiper park side sounds a good idea to be honest. Maybe I'll do that on my next one! Gives it a more exotic look.

That brings back memories, a mate used to have a steering wheel like this fitted to his series 4 sunbeam rapier back in the 70's ,with wide wheels and a steering box you could hardly turn the thing around in the car park due to sheer weight of the steering and discomfort of the steering wheel.

Hmm, 2 wipers, manual everything so there's less electrics to go wrong, lots of stainless trim, and an aircooled engine for that lovely sound and no coolant issues - Oh, that'll be a GS then

The chain steering wheel is available with 14 carat gold plating too. I just wonder who came up with such a concept..

I think I first saw one when I was a small kid in the late 70s. The older brother of a friend had some sort of huge American custom car that never seemed to move from his driveway. I remember the steering wheel and the fan blades being painted with a confederate flag!

Got any pics of your Barracuda Mick?

I dont think so Todd but will have a delve through my old albums when I get a chance ,

It was a lovely old girl .

Had side pipes with split headers so you could pull a chain in the cabin which diverted the exhaust from the side pipes to the open channel of the header it was a bit noisey to say the least.
Also had cabin operated bleach dispensers over the rear wheels for smokin burnouts

Reminds me. I must try a G at some point. Oh, but how does that exhaust system go again?

Hey, I'm getting better at the exhaust - it only took 6 hours to get it gas tight yesterday, and it was only blowing slightly by the time it reached the MOT station this morning 8)

then I'm sorry but that single wiper will have to go. It may work well with the looks, but I want two wipers with better screen coverage.
We may be very much in the minority - but I have to agree with that. Having said that - I think the single wiper performance is quite dependent on the make of blade used - I currently have an oversized Valeo which I, and others, find very effective.
some proper column stalks with a flick-wipe option.
I do prefer the stalks on the Granada - but mainly because they are hollow and can be dismantled so that additional miniature push buttons can be easily fitted along the stalk.
I'd have a variable intermittent wipe,
I was going to design one of those last year but other stuff got in the way... the other stuff is still in the way !

My now scrapped GTi had a special wiper relay (forgot about it until now!) that was 'programmed' by turning the intermittent wipe on then off again, waiting for the desired delay then turning on again. I could have any interval I liked between sweeps.

I must find out if it's still on the car!
