just realized that almost opposite the French specialist breakers that I pass everyday ( sorry mate havent had any BX's here for a good 10 years )

There is a German specialist breakers tucked away in the back of an industrial unit ,
I wonder how much they charge for these relays ?

I keep checking back to this thread to see if the 'relay' baton is still going from hand to hand. It is isn't it? By way of an intermission here's a picture of a REALLY pretty ph.2 Valver . . .

I'll go and get myself an ice cream, some kia-ora orange juice, stretch my legs and settle back down again. :D

I'd like a BX with the go of a valver and the economy of a dizler.

One with split rear leather seats too, in an estate, with a BX17RD badge on the back.

"I'd like a BX with the go of a valver and the economy of a dizler."
you can have one with a 16V BX plus LPG conversion.

Refering to the original Dollywobbler requirements,
Increased ventilation fan airflow can be achieved by adding the second blower from an aircon car.

As someone else said, I would like my car to be as it left when it left the factory in '92 with shiny red paintwork and no scruffy bits.

However, the original can be improved on with a higher 5th gear (thanks Jaba), programmable wash wipe (thanks Mat), better stereo, improved wiring to starter motor & headlamps & ignition coil, + twin cooling fans. These I have done.

my remaining improvement is to replace the distributor with a solid state switch as fitted to the later GTIs.
Aircon would be nice, but I cannot justify the time & effort to fit it. Same with an LPG conversion.

Otherwise it's back to polishing and fixing faults as they occur.

That's pretty close to my dream BX.

It might be clever now, but it won't be in the morning!

Mine's pretty close, and above about 2000m altitude probably has the edge over a 16v!

Must say after driving the TZD solidly for 2 weeks and 2000 miles I still think they are a fabulous car to drive and ride in (something my passenger would agree on), my only complaint was lack of ooooommmph, but that could be addressed by getting a TD one next time.

It wasn't that slow Tim. You spent quite a lot of time in front of me.

Surely the lower oxygen-density at higher altitudes has a negative effect on a turbocharged car, or does the lower temperature counteract the effect?

I must have a go in that car of yours Mat, a 1.9TD really does appeal to me as an every-day runabout... But then again, so does a 1.9 N/A. 16v is for the weekends or special occasions.

Well, the way I look at it, the turbo will spin up until the wastegate opens (at a certain pressure) so at altitude the turbo will spin faster to achieve the same pressure, and hence volume (assuming constant temperature) of air.

This was certainly born out by the fact I didn't have to work so hard keeping up with two 16 valves the further we got up the mountains! Mulley's had a go in the past, and he seemed to like it...

Hmm I wonder how a carbed 19 and an injected 19 would compare to your tweaked 19t-dizzle? Would be interesting to see. Well I suppose we could at the rolling road day.
