I think we all just want to see our P+J's on the stand Ian! I certainly do, so am happy to chip in. But I think the ultimate decision should lie with you.

I can understand that Tom. It's a nice feeling. My 2CV has been on display - once on the Live stage! I dragged Mike Brewer off the stage on his arse! (he was jokingly making out that he could stop a 2CV just by holding on to the bumper. I rocked the car on the clutch for a bit to aid his joke, then nailed it!).

I think that's the nub of it. Everyone would love to see their car on the stand I'm sure, but the first priority is that the BX gives as good and comprehensive account of itself as possible; which for me would mean - Ian's estate notwithstanding, which I think is a great idea - the best of the best; a mk1, a valver and one other car - what about a 4x4 if a nice one were available? Personally, I hate bun fights and competitiveness and still think (once we knew which cars would be available) democracy is the way to go; people propose/ nominate contenders, then put the short-list to the vote - it's not as if we're pushed for time. and anyway it'd be fun!

I'm more than happy to stump up a few bob for the insurance and do a 'turn' on the stand as well as toss my considerable artistic genius ( 8) ) into the ring, so that we can put on the kind of splash we're proud of instead of (as I've noticed often happens with some of the smaller clubs) a few Xeroxed leaflets sellotaped to a plank!

Im sure theres enough of us to make it viable, its always difficult deciding whos car we use as someoens bound to get a let down, having helped organise the SD1 stand, the hard work is getting everything together, once there you can relax.

Those sodium lamps arent very forgiving and tidy looking cars can look rather tatty.

Does it have to be the same four cars for the entire duration of the event?

Short answer, yes it does have to be the same cars. I've tried to get a car in and out before and after the official door-openings, it is unimaginably difficult to do.

As Matt says, you drive in (Thursday afternoon), park the car up, disconnect the battery and you dont start it again until the Sunday tea time

Ok. I'll ask for firm expressions of interest in a separate thread and we can vote on it in a while. Please keep NEC discussion in this thread.

Wonder if Patrick Rugg could be persuaded to get that rather dashing gold GT up there?

Right then. I've got to stump up £66 next week for our Public Liability Insurance. What's the best way to collect any donations to this scheme? Paypal? Handing cash to me in a field? (ie ICCCR or other meets). Obviously I'm happy to contribute myself, so it'll be less than £66 I need to find. If I somehow get more in than I require, I'll put it into a refreshment kitty for people who work on the stand over the weekend. (I say work - sit around and occasionally chat to interested people about BXs. No hardship and you get free entry to the show.). If somehow I'm overwhelmed with funds on top of that, I think the host of this very forum deserves a few quid.
