BX in the bodyshop.

Dear All.
A very kind family member has very kindly came over today to have a good look at
the paintwork on the BX He has is own crash repair centre in Redhill, I showed him all
of her " not-so-nice bits, ( including all of the three only bits of rust I can find) the larg-
est only being 1 cm anyway. He was really surprised how nice the BX is.
He has really kindly offered to do all of her little bits and peices, which includes sort-
ing out the cloudy paintwork on the bonnet and respraying the n/s/f wing, the front bu-
mper, both of the front door kick panels, rust treating and painting both rear door shuts,
touching up the scratches on the rear bumper, rust treating and painting the top of the
n/s a-pillar where it meets the roof, removing the rear pram handle spoiler and repainting
it aswell as repainting both n/s door window frames in satin black, both sills in satin black,
removing all 5 tyres and shot blasting the steel wheels and repainting them satin black,
and we decided that the wheel trims that are the original silver, that they would look so
much better done in a graphite, darker than the silver
I had asked him if he knew of anyone that could do the stainless exhaust for me,
when he turned up today, one phone call later, a new stainless steel cat-back system,
completely fitted with all new exhaust mountings and clamps etc, for £ 97.00 all inc. so
he is going to find out how much it would be for a new stainless steel front pipe, with
the original cat fitted aswell.
These last few weeks I have removed my wheel trims and washed and cleaned all of
the backs of them, and removing the plastic rings form the steel wheels and cleaned
them all too, and taken out all of the metal clips.
They are even going to do a photographic file on her whilst she is having all the
work done aswell, which I thought would be really terrific idea
Anyway I will keep you all posted while she is in having her bits attended to

her back, I will be smiling like a cheshire cat Paul
Andy Palmer is a family friend, he is a very well known british stock-car and a top
banger racer. All his cars win best prizes for best paint job. His eldest son is heavilly into
his " clays " and auto detailing. so, fingers crossed
But thank-you so Paul for all of your very very kind support too
The one thing I am looking forward to most is seeing the wheel trims back on the car
painted in graphite, I think that was a really good idea of Andy,s

Many years ago now, I had a very Beige customised HB Viva. the top of car was a creamy beige the bottom half was in a darker beige and the sills were darker than that.
the bonnet flew up on me when I was driving, ended up rather bent. So I had to go to
the local breakers for another bonnet. the only bonnet they had was one of of an HC,
and it was painted in " candy-apple-filp-flop " custom pink, it was very very bright pink.
it cost me £ 3.00

Dear Sandre.
Thank-you Sandre, I had forgotten about the thread being on a sticky I will
inwardly digest and hope something sticks OK
My SAAB won,t need any work doing to her, as she is, what is known as a " Face-
Lift Model "
The BX is just going in for a " nip " and a " tuck " and hopefully not too much
botox But as with all these things, it isn,t cheap. It is costing £1000.00, which I
think is money very well spent really
A local " bodyshock " wanted £750.00 just to buff the bonnet, paint the front
bumper, paint the front wing, both front door kick panels and the rear spoiler.
When she comes back I will be removing all of the interior door panels and the
boot trims etc and spraying them inside with spray grease, as I have already done this
job on the SAAB ages ago now, which has worked tremendously Sandre
Anyway I must shoot, and hopefully we can talk again soon

Secondly, sorry for my late reply, for two days our telephone has been really really
" crackilly " and no dial tone, so we have been offline during this time Mick Thank-
fully a man with a van that says he can, came and sorted up the telegraph pole
Thirdly, Andy is in incredible paint sprayer, his work is mind blowingly amazing, and it
is Andy will be doing all the bodywork himself, so I am mega happy that his is doing all
this work for me They are busy, they have just finished doing two classic cars,
so hopefully mine is up next Mick, Shari has been very good friends with Joan and
Andy for about 28 years, and I have known them for 17. Andy has moved into a
new premises in Redhill, and I havn,t been over to his new garage yet. but I will some-
time soon, hopefully going to see the BX whilst she is bieng done, so what I will need to
remember Mick will be too take Shari,s phone, so that we can take some piccy,s and
put them on the forum too Mick
I am letting Andy have her as long as he needs to do all the work Mick

I would love to take mine in for cosmetic surgery like that and have all the little niggles sorted in one go: I think you're right, it's money well spent, but sadly money I have not got for a while. You must be so looking forward to having your perfect princess back
