Coventry Transport Museum day out 29 TH July.

Post by mds141 »

It was discussed during the Classic Challenge of having a post Challenge pre ICCCR meet up. A few people mentioned the Coventry Transport Museum. It is fairly central in terms of travelling distance, a decent day out with plenty to see and above all admission is free. Anyone up for it? Obviously it would need to be a day whereby the most people could attend, so not automatically a weekend. Any interested parties please raise your hands. :)

Work and other events permitting, I'd be up for it - I've always wanted to see their cycle display!

I would like to go along too, but the calendar is filling up very quickly for the Summer now.

I can only do weekends.

I would be up for the day out and I hope that I could bring my son and grandson along as I am sure they would both enjoy the day out.

It is worth talking to the museum if this goes ahead ,as they allow car clubs to park outside the front of the museum.
Better than using public car park.

Thanks Gary I'll bear that in mind. As soon as I finish my nights I'll try and sort a weekend that's workable with everyones other commitments.

The parking at the museum is terrible for a car meet, so it would be well worth asking about parking in front, which happens all the time. I usually park at the swimming baths so that i have an excuse to walk past the museum ;)

I will definitely pop over if i'm about, but like MikeE, weekends are becoming very full.

PS if someone can explain how that stupid world clock works (the squiggles on the floor), i would be very grateful!

Right, had a look on calendar and these are the dates that I can do:-
Sat 7th July
Sat 21st Sun 22nd July
Sat 28th Sun 29th July
If anyone would like to attend let me know as soon as poss. If I get car numbers I can let the museum know so we can park in front. Cheers. Mark.
p.s. doesn't have to be weekends but I presume most people are only available to attend on a weekend unless you work odd shifts like me and a couple of others. :)

Just to note: the Beaulieu French Car Day is on the 8th July. And some (like me and family) are staying the night of the 7th local to that.

29th looks the most promising?

Anyone got a job lot of drip trays? I think they're fairly fastidious about that sort of thing.

Not sure I'm going to be able to make it - and not just because I'd need a car-sized drip tray!

I can make the 7th, 22nd and 29th.

Foil baking trays are good for oil drips - I have plenty of experience of this due to owning both Citroens and Land Rovers

I'm also planning to get to Beaulieu on the 8th 8)
