Ian's 16TRS Auto 1986

Post by bowei001 »

I've only just joined this forum but we have had this car from new. It was originally going to have been fitted with foglights but the dealer couldn't get them in time for the delivery date so only the switch is fitted. It is completely unmodified except for the dealer installed towbar and has covered 45000 miles from new which, I guess, makes it a quite low mileage vehicle!

Gosh, that looks stunning! Lovely clean engine. That red really does suit MK1 TRS's i've always thought.

Thanks for the compliment. The black stuff on the inner wheel arches and engine mounts is waxoyl which I sprayed on from new and it seems to have been effective, if a little messy.

So, let me get this straight, you were going to have foglights fitted back in 1986 but you're only getting round to it now? I thought I was bad for taking a while to get round to things!
Welcome along by the way.

Fabulous. Mk1s are coming out of the woodwork all over the place! Wonder if there are any more estates hiding out there...

Car looks great and has clearly been cherished. Lovely to see, especially as it's still with the original owner. Very rare.

Welcome to the BX club. Lovely looking example. My valver is a one previous owner example as well. It too has been liberally waxoyled and dinotroled from new. It does look a little messy, but has certainly done it's job of protecting the car over the years. Will you be attending the ICCCR? Are you in the Citroen Car Club?

Looking through the 200 Pictures Kitch took a photo of it along with a few other Mk1's, 5 years later it looks just the same!

We did go to the rally in 2007 (and I'm still using the BX mug to prove it) and we were in the CCC at the time but as I was in 5 different car clubs, something had to give and as the BX wasn't being used for more than a few miles per year, I dropped membership and put the car in the garage, under a cover and only really take it out to get an MOT. Now I'm retired, I'm trying to fit the foglamps that we originally ordered, really on a whim, as I don't think that I've used front foglights on a car for years. Hopefully, once I get everything sorted out (2 daughters at University and trying to move house!), I'll have more time (and money) to use the car. I do wish that the government had continued with the rolling 25 year tax exemption as that would have eased things a bit.

Tim, I've only 3 photos of the inside because nearly all my photos were lost when a hard drive crashed and I've forgotten to take any more. I've attached the 3 but they are a bit uninspiring.

Well you can have too much of a good thing (particularly if there's a lot of 'brown' involved  )

Well, it's a Mk 1. It's looks to be in mint condition; what's not to like!? =D> Welcome aboard.
