As the title, my astra has to go, it needs work and is only irritating me. Also I need a diesel really for my job (pizza delivering) for better economy, the astra is great for longer non-town journies (54mpg) but not so good in-town (37mpg).
Hopefully something with a few months MOT and tax that doesn't need anything doing to it for a few months (now being paid monthly...). 1.9 n/a's are more expensive on insurance due to their immensely more powerful engines compared to the 17 n/a And if I can find a 17 n/a my insurance company will give ME some money as it's cheaper to insure than my astra, a rare occurrence - I know!
Thanks all
PS i'm also considering other smallish diesels, but my favourite would be a BX if possible.

I have looked at them, but... I just don't like 'em. Gotta have a car that I at least like. I have earmarked a few for test driving though, just incase.

Does it have to be a Citroen? Still quite a few Pug 205 derv's floating around.

Doesn't have to be a Citroen, i'm looking at 405, cavalier, astra, rover 200 all n/a diesels. But i'd really prefer a BX if I can find one, there are some horrid roads in Yeovil, and if I find a 17 n/a then I can come to shows avec le BX! Cos the GT isn't going to be roadworthy for a while at this rate...
Not hugely keen on ZX's but have been looking at them, a 1.9 n/a leader is IG 5, which is good! Shame they're all estates on ebay atm (in leader trim). Don't like 205's either i'm afraid (i'm quite fussy as you can see, and would like something astra sized or bigger). We shall see what I find.

Plenty of C15's on ebay under £500, some with long MOT's. You'd get plenty of Pizzas in there, and it'd be a good parts chaser and even tug for a transporter trailer. May need to check the insurance, but they're good workhorses.

Phil, any chance of a photoshopped C15 van, resplendent with Challengesque stickers and spot lamps.

It'd have to fit 4 people in quite often, and be a daily driver, although I do think C15's a trés cool, don't think it's particularly practical. We only deliver one pizza order at a time so in that sense space isn't an issue. Thanks for the suggestion though Mike.

Although I did hear that Pete Abbot up in Lincolnshire was considering selling his (if he hasn't already). Last thing you need isanother project though!

I know where there's a UK converted 6 wheeler, although I don't think they'd sell - they were thinking of putting a more powerful engine in - either turbo diesel or GTi, but I think it's staying as is now.

IIRC someone did a C15 based on a valver. I think it was purple and was in a Citroenian at some time.
