Route and time both look good to me, so long as it misses the 1/2 term here, as my oppo at work usually goes home to Sicily that week.

I like midsummer for timing :D - 15-23 June or thereabouts?

Good route Mat, I will see what I come up with when I've got me old paper map back, pissing about with it on screen when Mark first posted this thread wasn't fun like route planning should be. Unfortunately the pix of my Scottish trips are mostly long gone, so whatever I suggest won't be so illustrated.

I reckon midsummer would be good too, but I'm fairly easy. If we can set a date that pleases the majority as early as possible that would enable people to put in holiday requests etc.

Don't forget the 3p on petrol has only been put off and there is plenty of time for Cameroon & Co to stuff a few more in. And if Alex Salmon hears Scotland is so popular with BX Club he'll probably smack on a border tax....
We anchored HMS "Ocelot" off the Laphroaig Islay distillery and they sent a boat out for the CO and 1st Lt leaving yours truly in command while they went for a distillery tour. All the Sloan family and mia bella ragazza Italiana have our life time leases of bits of the bog which supplies the water to the distillery. For Tom S-J which Munros have you done? If you want there are a number of munros which could be fitted in. If Tom wants to do Buchaille Etive Mhor I am quite happy to sit in the bar of the Kings House Inn at his expense and keep an eye on his car! Seriously having climbed extensively in Scotland it as a thought... Munros, Malts and Motorcars.....

I'd be up for Buchaille Etive Mhor (last one to the top buys the drinks, that OK Tom?) although it's a few years since I've done any 'real' hill walking in Scotland. Ideally I'd like to explore Knoydart, and get into proper wilderness but that would/will be a separate trip on it's own!

+1, looks far nicer than Gretna.

What's this with all the hiking boys, I thought this was a DRIVING tour? Having said that, I'd be up for some walking, although extremely unfit and out of practice (how many Munros have cable cars on them these days? *runs and hides*)

Although I said midsummer, I'm also flexible (oo-er), would be nice to avoid school hols (extra grockles) if possible though?

How about last week in June? Scottish summer hols have already started, so the majority of the natives will be in Blackpool and the English summer hols have yet to start. The weather on the west coast of Scotland will always be a bit hit & miss, but by going in June we would miss the dreaded midges.

Well, guess we could talk endlessly about dates .... (absotively avoid midge season, which means 6 week window between mid-May to end June if we're also avoiding holidays and want a chance of decent weather for half an hour or so).

Whatever gets chosen is bound to be someone's anniversary, or family birthday or someone else's fourth cousin twice removed's wedding, or some inconsiderate git will arrange some Very Important sporting or cultural event which clashes blah blah blah.

Mark, I'd suggest just pick a week/dates as I'm sure most who could come or would be interested would be able to plan accordingly with that much notice - a fixed point in time is a good start to making it happen :) You choose, 'cos you kicked off on this, and although Mat's revived the thread, I guess you're project managing*.

I think ICCCR would be a good time for a few of us to sit around a big map and get some vague agreement on routes/stops/points of interest, to be finalised at a later date if Highways Agency decides to dig up a 150 mile stretch of the A9 or something.

*if I say 'thinking outside the box' at any point, just kill me OK? Better kill me twice, just to be on the safe side.

I'll only resort to violence Sandre, if you start thinking outside of the box, whilst pushing the envelope!! :)
The ICCCR would indeed be a good chance to do some map planning.
Right guys, shall we say the S.C.C. will be taking place from Monday the 24 TH of June to Sunday the 30 TH of June 2013. Subject to change, nuclear Armageddon etc!!
I'll try my best to approach Mr Chidlows levels of planning, graphics, etc but will probably need some help with computerish stuff. Once we have a firm and definite route planned I will research suitable camping and/or B & B accommodation.
Cheers. Mark. :)
