12 months on, the red one is mine, the green one is (now) Mrs. R's

You could have polished it Marty, I am still surprised at you having gonads at this time, how did you sell the idea of a BX to SWMBO? are you washing up forever?

Another reason the BX is better than a Xantia - usefull cubby holes in engine bay to stash spares & fluids.

Lovely car Marty

In your cubbyhole I spy a bottle of Holts Tyreweld - is it any good? Also I spy one of those green magnetic gizmos that you clamp round the carb fuel inlet hose to gain "extra economy". Did you get that off Ken, perchance? (I could never figure out if that made any difference Ken... but now can't be bothered to take it off and see what mpg I get without it...)

Yep those cubbyholes are v. useful - but I've got to be careful not to block the drain holes (found o/s cubblyhole swimming with water one day....) and also I've found unsecured bottles of LHM are very good at dislodging the wires powering the washer pump....

Tyreweld is a voodoo product that ivokes ancient spirits to keep stray nails and lumps of wood bearing rusty screws away from your tyres. Under no circumstances try putting it into a flat tyre - its crap. However just having a tin for the last 5 years has warded off any punctures.

The Magnet is indeed one of those @economy@ things - again its total crap which is why its keeping the tin of Tyreweld magnetised to the bulkhead!

The cubby holes encourage people to carry extra litres of LHM, thus perpetuating the myth that HP Citroens are unreliable. Fortunately, aircon is the cure for this, ain't that right Mr B?

could those of us with aircon (or impeding aircon) not just use one fan and one recirc insted of two? this would allow us some cubby holeage?

Nope; that air con doesn't then circulate. It just will not work.
Also if doing an air/con conversion, I suggest you read the big write up I did on that job when we did ours as we were trapped using a fan that didn't circulate properly which left us with frozen lower body and boiled upper parts; possibly the most uncomfortable I've ever been in my life. Half in Antarctica, the other half on the Equator.

Cutting the penetrations and welding in the captive nuts was fun also.

That is a horrible job and makes the fitting of an a/c system much harder. If readers are considering buying a car and fitting aircon to it, you would be well advised to look for a car with blanking plates already fitted. They are plentiful (Particularly amongst late estates,) and save a lot of work.
If you are sexy and attractive enough to buy a Diesel, find a Turbo. N/A cars with aircon have their uses, but delivering milk is the only one that springs to mind.
