Thanks Kevan. Received. Now over the amount I need so as said, any extra will go on refreshments for the stand team (beats paying extortionate NEC prices) and anything left to xac.

Mike - thanks for the offer. Anyone contributing to stand coverage will naturally be free to go off and explore. No-one will be tied to the stand, though obviously we need to make sure there's always at least one person around to natter to. I've got a separate thread for cars and another one for people offered. I'll bump those nearer the time.

Mr Seabrook, a few of the other guys and gal's and myself had a chat over the weekend at the ICCCCCCCCRR, and have come to the decision about what cars to put on, whatever was chosen has to come from regular contributors who are localish or who can get the time off to drop the car off on Thursday and collect Sunday pm and be in good condition.

The Line up Will Be;

Mark Smith (mds141) 16v complete with challenge stickers

Mike Harrisons (mike22861) "red baron" which is having a cosmetic facelift prior to the NEC

Eoin Sloans very low mileage 16TGS estate

My Mk1 19DTR.

So we have a 16v, 1.9D hatch in red that were everywhere once, an estate and a Mk1 to cover all bases and they are all different colours, a Sport was suggested and if we had enough space then it would have been nice but we dont and as it was never available in the UK it was the one to drop out.

We have a few months to sort the stand out, we have the "30th Anniversary Banner" but need some BX Club banners also as the 30th Anniversary one doesnt mention us, I have a couple of ex showroom promtional posters and I think Vanny has a BX parasol? plus I intend to colour photocopy some BX Brochures for people to read but if anyone has anything they can let us use then please let Ian or myself know.

Any suggestions and comments are always worth sharing.

Yup. Sadly my Mk1 isn't going to make it to the NEC and as it happens, I've got to be back home on the Saturday night anyway (which means I'm now missing the Sunday). What I haven't told Tim is that after he goes home on Thursday, I'm swapping all the panels on his DTR for those on my Mk1 to create the 'barn-find' scene I originally had in mind for the stand. Has anyone got any Nitromors and brillo pads they can bring just so we can recreate that ratty look I'm after? :p ;)

Spent an awful lot of my time at ICCCR on the Pay Line with my team of volunteers so didnt see as much of the BXs as I'dve liked. Re: NEC My daughter has volunteered to make a cake and ice it appropriately. I will produce some decent fizzy white wine. I have two folding chairs I can bring.
Its always nice to have some uniformity in the presentation of details of the cars on show. If Mark, Mike and Tim, send me their words by PM I'll produce drafts for their checking and final laminated sheets idc for blue tacking inside windows.... suggest enough words to nicely fill an A4 sheet.

This is an odt cut and paste version of what I used at my local Lions show the other day. Properly laid out its the type of thing I think we need

CITROEN
BX 16 TGS Estate

The BX emerged from the unification of Peugeot and Citroen in 1982. Estate cars were introduced in 1985. This example is a 1992 model year facelift model with only 26,000 miles on the odometer. Until two months ago it was on the tires on which it left the factory! The BX fitted into the Citroen range between the GSA and the CX. The design was by the Italian Bertone Studio and similarities of style can be seen in the AX which replaced Citroen's small car the 2CV. The BX was produced in various engine sizes in petrol and diesel. The petrol BX16 TGS was nicely specified in both Saloon and Estate versions. Production of the Saloon cars stopped in 1993 when the Xantia was introduced but Estates continued to be built for Citroen by Heuliez for another two years.

Data
Engine: 1580 cc Carburettor & non Cat. Power: 94 HP
Gear Box: 5 Speed manual into Front Wheel Drive
Suspension & Brakes: Self levelling hydropneumatic system acting on a MacPherson Strut at the front and a trailing arm at the rear; High pressure system used on the brakes with load proportionate rear braking.
Performance: 106 mph; Fuel Use (urban cycle): 31.7 mpg

Yup. That's a nice length. Not too wordy, but enough for someone to stand there and read. Only thing I'd say is that the theme of this year's show is the rather vague 'tell us a story' or something like that, so it'd be nice to get some personal info ie how long owned, anything special you've done with the car. We don't really need to repeat the concept/similar tech on every car.

Ian I've been in touch with the original owners of my valver and they sent me all the MOT's and the original sales invoice. They've also corresponded with me via a couple of lovely letters. I suppose this does tell something of the cars history and provenance.

That's lovely. Wonder if we could find a way to display something like that. A photocopy of the original sales invoice would be nice to have stuck inside a rear window (I want to keep the windscreen and front windows clear for photography).

I'd also like some thoughts on how to display the cars. I don't just want a boring line up. I'd like one car at least to be at normal height - so we'd need to support it on stands I guess. Was wondering about using ramps to push one over at an angle, just to add some variety.
