Hi everybody,
Just trying to source a R/H driveshaft at the moment for my TZD Turbo. Could anybody tell me if all of the XU engined BX's petrol and diesel/turbo diesel have the same driveshafts? There aren't exclusive ones for the TD/16V like a few of the other parts on the BX? Thanks.
Regards Graham

Re: Turbo Diesel R/H Driveshaft
Edited for accuracy! TD and 16v have the strongest shafts, available in ABS and non ABS flavours. All the other XUs have a different shaft, again in both ABS and non ABS versions. The standard XU shaft will fit, but may have a shorter life.ghaddon1701 wrote:There are exclusive ones for the TD/16V

Thanks Mat. Right, I have looked in the BX Haynes manual and the Citroen Diesel engine Haynes manual and neither of them mention any different driveshafts. Haynes being as useful as ever! My car does not have ABS. I presume the one I have linked below is just a normal XU one?

If it's just the outer CV joint you need I got one new on eBay for my 17 TZD. There were different types fitted to that model I was told, and I had to count the ABS splines on the old one, which turned out to be 90, in order to get the correct one. It was only about £35 or less including postage

Re: Turbo Diesel R/H Driveshaft
Before buying a new joint though, you need to know if the shaft is the original... If it's been changed for a different one, or worse, replaced with a completely diferent type (some aftermarket ones don't even have proper CV joints) then even the 'right'joint won't fit.

Re: Turbo Diesel R/H Driveshaft
I telephoned car spares today (a chain of motor factors in the midlands area). To my amazement they had a complete drive shaft in stock. £32 plus vat(the company I work for has an account). Plus a £40 surcharge that will be returned when I give the old driveshaft back to them. Depending where you read the driveshafts are interchangeable with all sorts of cars. Zx's, Xsara td's, Berlingo's etc. I will compare the new and the old. The new one certainly seems very substantial.

Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!
Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...

Search in google for Car Spares Ltd.
I may be wrong about ZX driveshafts. I as just using that model as an example. There certainly is a long list of models BX driveshafts fit.
