Rear light differences

Post by KevR »

Can anyone enlighten me as to the differences between the various BX hatch rear light units? I'm sure I remember reading something on the subject recently but can't remember where!
Got a few rear units I don't need (because I've only got estates now) but not sure exactly which they fit.

Are all rear lights interchangeable? Saw some smoked 16v ones that would look good on the GTi....

All hatch BX lamps are interchangeable if you have the correct bulb holder, although some earlier cars have slightly different wiring.

There seems to be no uniformity on rear lamp lenses, but it seems the lighter car have lighter smoked tint?
Lots of Motors, mostly semi broken....

That's the one!
Looks like I've got a pair of used early ones, a new left hand early one and a used left hand smoked one. Oh, and a new Mk1 left front indicator.
