I do like the big dashtop storage box on LHD BX's... i can't believe anyone would pay that unless it's had some obsessive strip down rebuild and has the proof - even then it's unlikely

Even if its had a load of work done, i wouldn't pay over the odds, it is lhd afterall & does it have a/c? The piccies do make it look rather nice, but not £4k's worth.

I've seeen a lot of collectors / classics advertised from Poland in the UK for stupid money, I think they are under the impression that the British will pay any amount for a rarer car. :?

If we're talking about HVS, and without wanting to stir a hornet's nest, that 16v hid (pretty well, mind you) some expensive-to-fix issues. As indeed this £4k one will. I reckon £2k tops.

Currently, a little over 2 grand maybe sounds about right - assuming it's as good as the ad says it is. In 3 or 4 years time 4 grand might be beginning to look like a bit of a bargain. It's all about supply and demand really: as time goes by - particularly in the context of a fairly anodyne modern car market - BXs are going to look better and better. They already seem to get better looking and more distinctive year on year so demand will inevitably grow. There'll be less and less really good ones available over time (there must only be a handful of really tip top 16v's still in existence already): so if you want one, you're really going to have to dig deep.

I think Kitch's decision to save that silver 16v was a good call. It looks like a big investment of time and effort now but in 5 or so years time it'll look like a really smart move.

That car "hid" nothing, it may have has some issues, but not one of us owns a car that doesn't!

All depends how deep you want to delve or how anal you want to be. My athena is gorgeous with no major issues, but i bet you i could throw a grand at it and it still wouldn't be perfect.

I wasn't inferring that anybody hid anything. I don't intend to cast any accusations or suggest anything that reflects poorly upon anybody's character. (I would have used inverted comas with the word if I wanted to hint at that). I won't go into describing what was found - it was a long time ago so please don't try to stir things up.

By hid I meant most weren't apparent straightaway. Some issues were bigger than others and cost more to rectify than maybe I would've wanted but in the end I was buying an old, good-looking BX and I liked it in the end*. Just as you rightly point out any BX (or car of that age) will have problems..

I make no apologies about my initial statement as it was intended to illustrate that a £4000 BX might be a tad overpriced. :)

*(As a footnote the irony is I ended up using it about a couple of hours a week and I lost the garage space I was intending to keep it in so sold it - something I regret).

Interesting point, however several years ago in Romania I saw a very rough Mk1 diesel BX for sale on a street for the equivalent of £1500 - certainly not intended for the UK market! Deluded possibly or were BXs simply worth more in Romania than here at the time?
