In other news the KIA is going to cost just under 2 grand to repair,no damage to valves or pistons but the rocker shafts snapped destroying the hydraulic lifters, there's 16 of them at 60 quid a time, the labour bill is only 300 quid the rest is parts.
The garage we bought it from have agreed to pay for the repairs thank god

Good news that the garage who mis-advised you will pay for the work - but please tell me you're not trusting them to DO the work?! - I know, there might be no choice ... hope it doesn't take too long for you to get it back :)

No Dander, they did say for us to get it back to them in Blackburn but I said that's impossible so they have agreed to the garage we have used for fifteen years doing it. (960 quid for hydraulic tappets is incredible though theres 16 of them )

got the tickover down to a more acceptable level and being as the manual pump has been fine for over a week have replaced the massive length of pipe from pump to round thingy with a more sensible length pipe ( was using the old one that went to the electrica pump on the bulkhead ) leaving the electric pump in situ ( though disconnected ) for now and have kept the old long length of pipe in cae of any more problems, next to get around to wiring up the switch on the foglights

got back some of the money for the cambelt, the garage said they could have done it cheaper and then quoted pattern part prices instead of proper Kia parts.

anyone know anything about small claims court procedures ?
looks like we are taking a guy to court over a caravan he tried to sell us that was not "as described" so we returned it, now he's refusing to refund the deposit ,
We know we are in the right and are covered by the distance selling act but the guy is acting like a right prat about it all.

You can make the claim on line - it's a few years since I was involved in one (on behalf of a Club I'm involved with) but you can fill in the paperwork and pay the initial fee on line. You can even claim interest on the money owed so that the amount will go up each day.

Before you do this it may be worth considering getting a solicitors letter or similar sent to the guy - it may be enough to scare him into paying.

Thanks for that Mike, the silly thing is that although we didn't have to we said he could keep 150 quid for his man's time and diesel as a goodwill gesture ,he is holding onto the whole 1300 deposit and saying he's only going to refund 1000 of it keeping 300.
The caravan was filthy, had broken windows, cracks in the lower body, oven door wouldent shut ,freezer door broken, mastic in the awning Raul seal had dried out and crumbled letting moisture in, the lusty go's on and on.
Yet he claimed the only faults there were was one little chip out of the edge of a window and the carpet could do with changing.
He now claims to have had an independant valuation done on the van and a "very nice letter from the new owners " both of which are irrelevant as he has had the van back for three weeks now so could have rectified the faults,in any case we have dozens of photos

Love the TU engine! The 306 is virtually identical to the ZX, with the exception of the suspension settings which are harder as Peugeot had a more sporting image at the time. Not my thing, but a good, dependable car!

No more meteor then? Or is this as well as? A friend of mine had a 1.4 306 when we were at college, she was so cool back then cos we all had corsa's/106's/saxo's. Just a shame they're so common...
