Why do you need to get all the welding done at once? Just treat the areas with kurust to slow things down & as long as it isn't an MOT failure area, just get the bits done that actually need doing to keep it on the road & structurlarly safe? Think about doing the other bits when time & funds allow. If i costed up all the things that i'd like to get done on the TXD, i'd probably come the same conclusion as you & just scrap it. However, i'm in for the long haul & will just do the work (with some help) over time & in order of priority & cost. You could buy another BX, but they are all of a similar age & you'll probably just be substituting a different set of issues on your replacement car over the one that you've gotten rid of. Just my thoughts of course, which you can disregard :)

Problem is, I HAVE bought another one!

I'm really not happy driving around in something that is so 'soft' around the rear. Bits keep falling off now. It's really quite bad.

If it keeps shedding weight, fuel economy should improve :)

Oh it happens to all of us Ian once you're over 40. I've just learnt to live with it. :)

That's it. The Green Tiger has been on its final journey under its own power. One last drive for old time's sake, and so the below could happen.

Mat F has already got an order in for bits, and I've been raiding it for stuff to use on the TXD too. Tax will be sent off for a refund and the break-up will begin in earnest. Already considering using the bonnet as a roof for our woodstore...

Not for long. Especially if my fuel-transfer pump fits down the filler neck...

I drained the fuel from my engine donor Xantia - got a good 15 litres out even though the gauge registered bugger all. My technique was to piece the bottom of the fuel tank once the car was on the trailer, which backfired somewhat when the penknife I was using folded up on my finger and sliced it to the bone (that's why I use a locking knife now!)

Image

Undeterred by this injury I still managed to collect the fuel in a jerry can, but rather stupidly forgot to secure the top. As I moved the (long) trailer, the back end swung round, and knocked over my hard won gains #-o

Well, the strip down has been started. A few small things for Mat. Isn't as rusty under the washer bottle as I thought but there's definitely rot in the seam.

Sent the tax disc back for a refund today. And the first batch of parts in the post. She'll have to sit for a bit though as we're still renovating the downstairs of the house and I don't have anywhere to stash stuff I'm taking off. Need to get all of the interior stuff out and stash it somewhere dry and safe before I can consider panel strippage.

Not sure I can be doing with stripping and sending too much stuff, so am considering having an open day. Bring your spanners for guaranteed cheap parts!

Is the carpet black in this one?! I assumed it'd be grey so didn't say anything!

I still can't actually bring myself to break this car. I keep pinching bits off it, but I put the not-so-good bits back on! I still drive it up and down a driveway now and then to keep the hydraulics in good order.

Does anyone want it for salvation/breaking? Still has MOT! £100 anyone? Only bits not replaced are the rear wiper arm, the rear washer bottle support and the passenger sunvisor.
