Re: Possible Mk1 BX in Harry Buckland's - false alarm

Post by citsncycles »

Well the guy in the office thought they had one, but I went up and down that yard twice in the rain and never found one - at least I didn't have to try saving it  .

There were a few other Citroens there, a 3 door AX, couple of C15's, couple of Xantias, a few ZX's, several Saxos and a C5 that had been stripped of it's engine, gearbox and every possible interior switch!

as there was a request, here are some pics (if the moderators wish to move this to a more appropriate area, please do so)

If I guy I talked to was correct, it was definitely there last week. As they seem to keep stuff until it's pretty well stripped, my guess is either someone's rescued it, or he maybe had the wrong yard - we also have Twigworths not too far away from them so it's possible it's there if the guy made a mistake. Unfortunately, it'll be a week before I can get there, but anything interesting or old they tend to put to one side anyway.

Ooh, a three door estate, diesel too. Looks to be E/F reg so it'd be the 1.6 - 52bhp of fun! Quite into MK2 and increasingly pre-facelift MK3 cavs recently too. That solitary merit wheel trim on the astra is really rather rare now too - most MK2's seem to have the GTE alloys on, or speedlines these days and most merits seen are the post-facelft types, that were flush. Hehe, nicely bandaged headlamp!

That 309 next to the dolly looked spotless, although we can only see one side. Scrapyards like these are fascinating eh? I remember me dad took me around a few in the 90's when we were looking for bits for mums MK2 astra at the time, was like a big treasure hunt!

Interesting to find out if this fabled 85 hatch does turn up, and what condition it's in :)

I'll try Twigworths next week, and like an idiot it was only this morning that I remembered what it was I wanted off the AX - the rubbers that go over the mirror handles #-o so I may end up back at Harry Bucklands again.

It's between Cheltenham and Gloucester, so not too far from a ferry port!

it's a good yard - it may have been the S1 XM hatch that was up on the right hand side - eighth row in - it lasted about three weeks before going.

I like Buckland's - may go visit tonight and weigh in nine or ten batteries.

Prices are reasonable.

I'm planning to pass through the area on the 20th October, so if anyone fancies meeting up for a scrapyard session I could meet you there?
