Post by TizzyD »

Hi all, just got back from a weeks holiday in Corfu today, where, apart from doing naff all, I did abit of car spotting . . .

Bx 14RE with colour coded door surrounds and spoiler, speedlines, tailblazer and front fogs, looked very nice

Bx 1.4I kat that doesn't look like its moved in a while

I didn't know that Citroen made tailblazers for ZXs but they look great

Image

Never seen a Visa GT like this before, looks like it might be an official Citroen accessory, might email the Visa guy in CCC mag and see if he knows anything about it.

Possible distant relation to the Green Tiger . . .

The grill on the Visa is reminiscent of the one I had on a Skoda Rapid - it was an after market accessory made by a plastics company that did them for a range of vehicles. The dealers actually sold them, but you could also pick them up from other stockists too, and would come complete with provision for fixing the original badges.

I had a ZX with a two tone tailblazer, sold that to fund the DTR.

Autoplas rings a bell. It looked good on mine as it was a late 136 (wish I still had it), and the rectangular driving lamps matched the headlights well. I imagine it wasn't as neat on the earlier cars. Used to see them a lot on Escorts and Sierras sometimes on Cavaliers and Astras, and I've even seen them on Reliant Rialtos!

The Visa is a rather rare GTI - Citroen only made 9500 GTIs in total for all markets worldwide. In Britain I think around 1000 were sold making it slightly more common originally than a BX 4x4... By contrast Citroen sold more than 3600 16Vs in the UK.

It doesn't have the body kit of a GTI and was 3 stud, but it also doesn't have the GT on the bonnet
