Anyone know when and where the first BX was sold in the UK?

I imagine the 1st cars were sold and registered to Citroen themselves. Re private individuals, Fulton McKay, the actor, was a Citroenphile and as soon as the BX was announced to replace the GS he placed an order with his local dealer in Glasgow.

As a continuation to this, I've often wondered which is the oldest still running/on the road BX?

Well Neil's has to be a contender for that prize!

I've possibly got the oldest Estate on the road in the UK, but I'd be interested in finding out what age that RD in Ireland is

Mike you can check the date of reg through DVLA,

I imagine Neils is probably the earliest Mk1 still in use, theres the 14E of Jon Self and Phil Lancasters 16TRS but I think they are both 1984 registered. I expect the first UK ones would have been Citroen UK test cars/demonstrators.
Lots of Motors, mostly semi broken....

So Summer 2013 would be the 30th Anniversary of the sale of the first UK BX. (I am hoping to sort something marketing-wise out with a Citroen UK dealer which might require a showroom BX... as well as a DS, GS and 2CV)

My dad used to own A63RPO (the BX that got me into them!) I'm pretty sure that was a really early 16TRS, but it got written off in 1994.

Mike you can check the date of reg through DVLA,
Well, the one in Ireland came out as follows:

Date of Liability 01 11 2004
Date of First Registration 09 05 1986
Year of Manufacture 1986
Cylinder Capacity (cc) 1905cc
CO2 Emissions Not Available
Fuel Type HEAVY OIL
Export Marker Y
Vehicle Status Unlicensed
Vehicle Colour GREY
Vehicle Type Approval Not Available
Vehicle Excise Duty rate for vehicle
6 Months Rate £121.00
12 Months Rate £220.00

I also looked up the location code and it was first registered in Sheffield, where it was registered 1 month and 1 week after Timex. If it's been sat in that field all that time, I can only imagine what it's like underneath, but it's definitely straighter than mine on top, and I actually prefer the colour - not the usual blue!

RBX was Carmarthen plate and was clearly an arrangement between CITROEN UK and the licencing Authority so as to get the xBX. Early Citroen UK press cars were Axxx RBX and of course were sold on in due course...... Later CITROEN UK cars were on Berkshire plates.

I believe Hilary's valver was a press car.

In the 70's a lot if the press cars had the letters PPP - there's an Ami 8 UK launch car about with one of these registrations
