Good to hear it's all coming together.

I'd have a look at that cambelt as Tim mentioned earlier.
Do you know when it was last changed? In terms of miles and years?

It was changed about a year ago when it had the piston work done, but I'm going to change it anyway along with the water pump.
I'm going to give the car a good going over this morning and make a list of things it needs, hopefully it won't be too painful financially!

The oil pressure switch has been replaced with a new one, it was easier to get at with the oil filter removed, so i changed that and the oil as well. Ran the engine for a good 15 minutes and no warning lights came on, everything back to normal. Checked all of the lights and the brake lights are not working  , the lamps are fine, so i guess the switch is next?

Not got round to having a look at the brake lights yet, but I've made up a brief list of what needs to be done.
1. Roof and bonnet need paint.
2. Rear inner wheel arches need some work.
3. Small rust patches, small crusty area at rear of boot, some crust along the sill jacking areas.
4. Drivers window motor needed.
5. Sunroof metal frame around glass is quite rusty, replacement needed.
5. Bottom of passenger doos is quite rough, possibly repair but a beeter door would be a good option.
6. Dipstick, top of the dipstick has brocken off.
7. Front of soundproofing under the bonnet is dropping, should there be some clips along the edge?

I'll take some more pics soon and put up a list in the sale/wanted section.

The brake light switch was faulty, but to make it fun, sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't, so i robbed the one from my AX Maxi rally car project and i now have brake lights on my BX.
I took a few pics of the inner wings, but rain stopped play as i want to give the inner front wheel arches a good clean and closer inspection.

Here is a pic of the soundproofing on the bonnet, i had a look on my diesel and it does not have clips on th efront edge, but the soundproofing on the 16v looks as though it should have clips, or maybe its just old and knackered?

Not sure what happened there, the pics are in the same photobucket folder as the other ones earlier in the thread, so i deleted them and started again.

Managed to get the inner front arches cleaned inbetween showers this afternoon, just a few scabby patches where the underseal has come away.

The grommet at the end of the sill has perished, something else to add to the list.

On a 16V a lot of the nearside inner wing is hidden behind the ABS block and the airbox.

I would advocate that you take the airbox out and have a really good look along the seam. From past experiences, the rot can set in underneath the seam sealer and then spreads along out of sight, making the welding a lot worse when you have cleaned the whole area out.

Taking the airbox out is only a 5 minute job.
