Bristol Classic Car Show, 20th and 21st April 2013

Post by citsncycles »

In discussion about the success of the NEC show last weekend, the possibility of other shows came up. Would anyone be interested in a stand here if I can get one?

The show is at the Shepton Mallet showground, and coincides with Drive It Day on the Sunday. There's also a classic parking area adjacent to the main pavilion, so if a convoy was organised we could park several BX's together outside.

Typically, the stands assigned are for 2-3 cars, (although 3 is a squeeze), and power is available.

Is it worth me sending off an application?

I think so. I can probably scoot over for that one. Two cars sounds good. We want people to be able to have a good look at them. It's a nice little show, albeit one that can suffer from the same cars turning up year after year, so I think we'd be guaranteed some attention.

Application has been sent for a 2-3 car stand with electric supply, plus a club parking area outside in the classic car park.

I should get a decision one way or the other in 4 weeks.

Well done that man :)

Is it worth comparing how much PL is for the whole year vs compared with buying it for an event and just getting it for the club? IF we get the stand at the NEC this year I was thinking about setting up a separate paypal account for donations, with login shared for "audit" purposes and might be worth doing this anyway?

If it doesn't clash with the X-Rally, Andrew and I would add our two to the car park collection.
Be a good opportunity to meet up with family and friends in Bristol also :D

Even if it does clash with the X-Rally, I'll be up for Bristol. X-Rally is a bloomin' long way for me!

I'd be up for this, it would be a good target for getting the GT on the road, and if it doesn't make it up there, then Bristol is close enough to home for that to not be much of an issue. If it does make it up (which it should really) then it'd be a good bonding trip for me and the GT :D

I'd probably go for this over the X Rally, especially if there's a good turn out from here. It's in the diary!

Looks like if we don't get a stand, I may end up organising a convoy there for Drive It day with this much interest - probably meet up on or near the M5 somewhere south of Bristol so that we can gather from all directions and head in together.
