It looks to have been sprayed with underseal in the past, which could be either a good thing or a bad thing depending to what's underneath! Hopefully it's been sprayed to protect rather than hide...

Mine has 4 stainless steel clips along the front similar to the ones already shown further down in your picture.

It does look as though the underseal has been maintained, the last owner was very enthusiastic about the car, so its no surprise, ive tapped all around the wing and had a magnet on it, it is solid.
I'll take out the airbox and washer reservoirs and double check around those areas. The inner wings are very similar to 106 and AX wings with that lipped seam running along the beam, my old S1 Rallye had really bad rot along this section.
The soundproofing under the bonnet does appear to have all of its clips in place, i think its just old, I'll have to be a bit creative, maybe some glue would help

What I've done with the soundproofing is pierce it near the clips and use a zip-tie to hold it to the clip.

I removed the airbox this morning to have a closer look at the inner wings, they are quite solid with no signs of rust, i also had a look behind the headlights, as i know this is a rust spot on AXs as well, but all is well.

But the cold air feed pipe has seen better days, so i have wrapped in some silver/grey 3m duct tape for now, until something better turns up.

I also removed both washer bottles and everything is fine, apart from a very small scabby area on the passenger side bulkhead right up in the corner, you can only see it with a mirror, but its not that bad, I'm being very criticle.

I think its safe to say the front of this BX 16v is quite solid, the back however will need some work.

Fitted the replacement drivers side window motor/mechanism today, a bit fiddly, but probably made more difficult because of frozen fingers :) I now have a window that zips up and down with speed, of course i cleaned all of the old grease of and lubricated with silicone/ptfe spray grease. I need to do the other 3 because their lack of speed is now very obvious.
Interestingly when i removed the door card the original vapour barrier was still intact, I'll just have to make a new one. While i was in the door i applied Supertrol 001 to all of the seams i could get to.

All I can say is, I wish my mates would call me with valvers like that available for £500.

If you want to get rid, call me. grumble grumble mutter

Seriously though - that's a lovely car, well done for getting it into hands that will take care of it - it deserves it! Looking forward to seeing it restored to glory :D

My favorite is the old 95 estates - nearly bought one of those a couple of times over the years, and if it wasn't for the GS would probably have one now
