Seems we have a bit in common, i had a 1966 95 two-stroke many years ago, we did quite a lot of miles in it, i also see from your signature you have a Lambretta, i restored and rode a 1953 125ld tele-flex model, my youngest posing on it...

I also have a few bikes and ride quite a bit, this may or may not get you excited, 1985 Pinarello Treviso :)

The 9-3 is a good car, after 2002 they did improve even more, the early models suffered with bulkhead cracks around the drivers side steering rack, make sure the sump has been dropped and cleaned, they can sludge up and starve the oil pick up. I had a 9-3 Viggen, 220 ish bhp great car, but it was only a 3 door and really not a family car, if it would have been a 5 door i would probably still have it. As with most cars, try for low miles with service history, listen for a failing turbo above 3k rpm and timing chain rattle.

It was the 2 stroke Saabs that introduced me to the make - I'm a 3rd generation DKW owner, and both my parents and grand parents were involved with the owners club. With the replacement of the Auto Union models with 4 stroke Audis, a lot of members switched to either Wartburgs or Saabs as daily transport, so many of them would turn up a meetings.

The Lambretta, like the DKW, is a bit of a family heirloom. My Mum bought it from her high school teacher in 1964, then passed it to my aunt in 1968. She gave it back in 1984 and I took over care of both it and the Deek 6 years ago when Mum moved to Ireland. It's complete and unrestored, but has been off the road for many years, something I hope to remedy after getting my full licence.

Is your DKW the 3=6? Unusual these days to see an original Lambretta.

Its the original 100bhp single carb engine. The head has been opened up by Dave Baker at Puma Race Engines with larger inlet valves and a hotter cam, tuned exhaust, jenvey throttle bodies and DTA40 ECU. It goes pretty well

Love the 95 Vantman =P~ 8)

The Deek is a 1938 F7 Meisterclasse Cabriolet in RHD - 700cc twin cylinder 2 stroke mounted transversely and driving the independantly suspended front wheels - a system that predates Citroen by 3 years. It has a single backbone chassis and a fabric covered wooden body.

I hope to be able to keep the Lambretta as original a possible, like I do with most of the bikes.

I met Mat Fenwick in Abergele last night to collect a good NSF door, it was one of those 'I'll meet you in a pub car park meetings' :) 100 mile round trip to collect a door ! I just need to strip it down and drop it of at the body shop, where i have just left the 16v to have the roof/bonnet painted and the rear arches fettled, i should have it back after the holidays. This thread will probably go a little quiet for a bit.

The 99 is lovely :) I have a flat front single carb 900 which is heading to the bodyshop in a couple of weeks. Nice to see the engine in yours, it gives me hope for mine!

@ Turbo Killer - do you know anyone doing a reasonably priced Momo steering wheel boss kit for classic Saabs? I have a nice Momo wheel to go on the 900 but can't find a boss kit for under £100 (and since the wheel only cost £35 with a Vauxhall boss kit fitted, that seems a bit much...)

Thanks :) . I think some of the Carlsson models had momo wheels, so there must be bosses made for those, but there doesn't seem to be anyone doing an aftermarket one.
