TX Models

Post by saintjamesy89 »

Can someone give me the low down on the TX models? They're one i'm not familiar with spec wise, do I remember them being an updated/modernised/revised TG level?

TG with rear spoiler and GTi-style seats. And crap wheel trims. Mine wears TG trims in honour of its ancestors.

Manual rear windows, elecy front, central locking, sunroof, tinted glass etc.

Ta, thought it was near the top. Like TG trims, but unfortunately prefer TZ ones. Just. I do have a spare TG set from my dead 14 though if I change my mind :) One thing I didn't like particularly (from the piccies) is the silvery/chrome grill bit and the rear badges that TX's seem to have, looks a bit plastic-fantastic.

I think that George may have some TZD trims available from before he fitted Speedlines. Might be worth contacting him via Tim as I don't know how frequently he's on here.

The TXD comes with some, so unless they're awful I think i'll stop with them. Got some filler if the worst comes to the worst too, then I can paint them in-your-face-silver :D

What trims did TX's come with as standard?

I hate the bling of the TXD I must admit. The tailgate badges look like they came from Halfords and the chrome trim on bumpers and grille just looks wrong.

I think the bling on TXD models is fine, just part of owning a different model of BX.
The badges on my TZD are worse than those on my TXd and i rather like the chrome grill. Why on earth they didnt upspec the TZD to GTI trim and interior ile never know.

Collected it this evening, after various cock ups on london's transport system meaning I was an hour and a half late... But, wow what a car! It has a few issues, but it is the quickest car i've ever driven, even if it does smoke, and smoke it does - lots. Did I mention it smokes? Very much worth what I paid for it :)

Well done Tom,

Welcome to the turbo. Mine did smoke a bit too, however since adding Millers fuel additive its hardly noticeable now. A good idea if you tried some, it may help to clean the injectors internally.
Have fun with it and Smiffy too.

A clean air filter may help too, though they are very sooty by nature. You spot this especially when accelerating at night if someone's behind you!

EDIT - by the way Tom. How many threads are there about this car at the moment?!

I'll do a blog tomorrow and start the chatting there, make things a bit tidier. Noticed it's got a very dirty air filter, and the backbox is shot, rusty and holy so neither of those help I think. Wasn't as smoky today as last night, it was grey smoke today (black yesterday) :)
