Can anyone tell me what parts of the Mk2 BX have asbestos in them? I'd just like to know before I do too much cutting or drilling or any of that sorta thing. I don't need it in detail just a list of what parts use asbestos.
As a side note, apparently the stuff is used in EVERYTHING in old(ish) homes, pipe insulation, floor tiles, those black toilet cisterns, loads of stuff (ok maybe not everything HA)

Re: Asbestos
Potentially the clutch friction plate and brake pads may contain it - I think it was banned in ~2003. I certainly wouldn't worry about the possibility of it being anywhere else! Where we you thinking of drilling?

Re: Asbestos
To be honest Mat, it was just a case of if I was removing the interior or pulling out some of the insulation/lining thats on the chasis behind the dash and under the carpet, I wanted to be sure its not going to kill me. Death would seriously hamper any restoration timeframe I might have.

Re: Asbestos
could be in the bitumastic pads stuck to the inside of doors etc. damp the area down with a bit of thin pva if you need to drill or grind it. it supresses the the dust. should chip off with a screwdriver/ chisel combo.
