Another MOT, another year!

Post by deltic »

Pleased to report that my GTi passed another MOT, although it failed on the first attempt needing front discs, but fortunately I had a set in the shed (the garden shed not the car!). I think that this is only 2nd or 3rd fail since I got the car in 2002.

Would be a good time to sell with a fresh MOT...

Exactly I'd have to spend an awful lot more than I'd get for the BX to get something as reliable, particularly as it's been (mechanically) well looked after most of its life. Cosmetically it looks a little challenged with Citroen's wonderful lacquer failing everywhere...

Maybe worth getting the old girl tidyed up? modern lacquers are more resiliant.

Catch 22! Assuming I could afford or justify the expense a re-spray would be cost more than the car is worth and would be unlikely to increase its value by much. And then it lives on the street in, dare I say it, a part of the country seemingly inhabited by the UK's worst drivers! That said in an ideal world as far as I am aware the car would make a good basis for a restoration and I would gladly do the work if circumstances allowed.

I'd agree, its not financially viable to get a BX re-sprayed, unless you were doing something like what Kitch is doing & the car would be remaining with the owner.
