I must admit I think they are hideously ugly and a piss poor piece of design but there are not many chances to buy one of these…

Looked at one at Rally Day at Castle Coombe about 6 years ago for sale for GBP 7,000. This Euro price on the not so good 'le bon coin' is a stupid price for one of the 200 road homologated examples of the worst Gp B rally car ever. The Rally cars (20 could be built after the FIA had seen the 200) achieved one 6th place in an FIA Calendar event. Mark you for ugliness a Metro 6R4 takes a bit of beating and I am not even sure the BX beats it on that count!

Sadly not according to the road tests I've read. Brakes come in for significant criticism AFAIK. The genuine GpB article might be more fun - but a lot more challenging - to drive. Still a duff competition car though.
But I still like 'em (see avatar lol)

I never pay any attention to road tests, especially when they relate to hydraulic citroens which never seemed to get a brilliant write up as they are sooo different to drive than the other fodder that testers are used to, so i'm not surprised they don't like them. I bet it goes better than my TXD & is more fun as well. Citroen brakes coming in for criticism, that'll be they are either on off analysis, again by testers who don't like that sort of system, they prefer a mushy pedal feel as that's what they are used to.

At first I thought this was a wind up, as the car looks just like my Otto model. €35,000 doesn't seem unreasonable in my book. I actually like the looks.

The brakes are a serious issue with them.
We had the use of one (previously from the Patrick collection, now in France) in 2003, and took it to a grp B rally day and to a CCC rally. Nearly had an incident with a concrete post, when the brakes decided not to bother on a corner. Scary stuff - but fun too!

When I had an FIA International Rally Licence and was rallying my GS FIA Gp 2 in the Historics in the Spanish WRC round and Rally Deutschland and the Tour Auto I discussed these cars with the likes of Walter Rohrl and Jean Ragnotti (and I think we can trust the assessments of World Champions) everything was wrong with these cars: Engine, transmission, brakes, balance......

Aren't we getting confused between the road going & the actual wrc monster, they are both different beyone belief as the wrc one's have a lot more power etc.... Has anybody actually driven both, i doubt it.....

I personally am not confusing the 200 with the 20 Evo cars.... Nor were Walter R and Jean R; they were reflecting the qualified views of the paddock..... Probably, having driven a works Quattro, the biggest mistake was the lack of a central diff which Audi had and Citroen thought was not needed - and were proved wrong.

I'd have a Metro 6R4 if I could afford one... don't they have the same engine as a Jag XJ220?
