No worries, I know where I can get a new one fitted at a reasonable cost, so I'll stick with plan A - pull the screen, weld up the surround then call them out to fit a new screen.

I really want the lot gone in one go before I let individual bits go. The buyer would get a better deal by purchasing the lot.

OK what do you want for the whole lot of BX parts you have? I need to replace the screen on my 16V asap and I'm sure I can find homes for the other parts...

At the moment I've got no idea. I'll do an inventory so you know whats there.

If your really that desperate for the windscreen I would sell it to you to help you out. On a collection only basis from belper, derbyshire. I paid 50quid brand new from the citroen dealer in penzance. Make me an offer.

I'd really like to get the screen - mine got cracked a couple of weeks ago. I can come and collect it from Belper reasonably easily... I am sure we can come to an agreement on the price.

I've got a set of the standard gti alloys too. They are of the slighter narrower style rather than the ones fitted to the 16v.

Nope! In fact the Bet Victor ads managed an off-the-scale irritation quotient for me from the first one I saw. Truly awful, which I guess is the intention. Has it succeeded? Possibly - it certainly has raised my awareness of their presence, but only to the extent that I have a strong urge to do something detrimental to their brand and definitely NOT to line their pockets.

Finally, let's not lose sight of the fact that some snotty little media type has storyboarded an ad that implies that a BX is the foundation for something decidely tacky and tasteless. Sod 'em!

Advertising agencies that produce television commercials make it their business to be aware of the 'lifestyle aspirations' of their target audience. In Plebville (where all the people who think 'Bet Victor' gambling is a really good idea happen to live) the BX is probably seen as something rather tacky and tasteless, and where 'good taste' constitutes a major investment in 'up to the minute' consumer trash. We all know that Simon Cowell's aviator sunglasses, 'Strictly Come Dancing' and Posh Spice's high fashion posturing should make any sentient person piss themselves laughing, but those poor bastards don't. So, as you quite rightly suggest . . . sod 'em! :D

Good point, well made! But again, WE all know what a DeLorean is... If you asked one of Bet Victor's target audience, chances are they'd glaze over and tell you they can't speak Spanish.

On a slightly different tack, I have a feeling we've seen this character 'Maurice' before. Is it a Barry Gibb / Richard Branson look-alike? Close, but no cigar! Could it be Zaphod Beeblebrox. You decide...

All publicity is good publicity, excluding extreme scenarios.

With the value of older cars stabilising these days (and climbing on popular cars from Ford, Vauxhall etc) an advert like this, however shit, gets some people talking in some way about the BX. A tiny percentage will do something and that action might play some tiny effect in the future of the model, but if the advert had never been there would be nothing in it's place.

If anything it got to very high money (for a TD) on eBay and then got pulled, so all those watching will be of the opinion that whatever high price it had already climbed to wasn't enough, and that will affect their perception of the value of a model like that. Next time they see one and bid, they might bid higher. If that happens 3 or 4 times in a year, it WILL affect the value of the model. It'll increase slightly :)

The 16v is a classic example of this. Ok, demand is outstretching supply now (something not affecting the diesels as much) as the 16v is one of the rarer models having been destroyed over the years for the 205 conversions, but I paid £700 in 2004 for mine which, at the time, was pretty tidy, had 80k miles or so and all MOT'd/taxed etc. Last year, a white higher-miles ph2 went for nearly £1200 with no MOT and some faults (I think it may be lurking on here now  ) - what I'm getting at is £1200 in 2004 would have bought me the tidiest BX 16v in the world! Mine was actually one of the more pricey ones at £700....I'd seen one for £595 just a few months before but didn't have the funds.

There have been a number of things promoting the BX over the last year or two which have contributed to the climb in values for most variants, and this advert will be another one I reckon. Whether it's shit or not, or promoting something shit is irrelevant.
