Wanted - Rear electric window switch

Post by mat_fenwick »

Anyone got one spare please? I'm wanting to make the central locking operate from a switch on the centre console (for no other reason than it would be neat!)

Try and get hold of an XM switch Mat, then it would be illuminated as well. Sounds like an interesting mod.

I'm also after a rear electric window switch please. I believe it's part number 95495141.

If anyone's got one available, please drop me a PM.

Cheers,

Phil

So, you want to lock yourself into the vehicle? Makes it a tad difficult to get you out if you have a prang?
I just shove the tab down on the door if ime worried if ime going to be attacked which is usually about never!!

I can't say I've ever worried about being attacked, and I never lock the doors whilst driving. It's just that the subject cropped up on another thread, and I thought it would be a neat little project! The only practical advantage would be when I'm occasionally sleeping in the car, and I've forgotten to lock the doors - it would be marginally easier to reach to the centre console than the door, without getting out of my sleeping bag.

My car already has 'anti hijack' as part of the alarm/immobiliser system. It locks all the doors as soon as you drive off which is quite neat. And i just pull the stalk up to unlock them all again, easy. I do like the idea of having a dash button though.

Mat, have you considered a bit of logic behind the button so that you can have a push button that will toggle the central locking condition (ie lock if open, open if locked)?

On the previous thread where this came up, I think the plan was to use the up and down directions of the window switch for sending the separate lock and unlock signals to the central locking module.

i understand the intention of the switch, but it is well within the OPs ability to add the more modern method of a toggling switch, assuming the OP had considered the notion.

The OP hadn't considered such a notion actually, but am leaning towards keeping it simple. It probably should be way down the priority list after the wing welding, although it's a lot more fun!
