La Vie en Bleu - June 1-2 - Prescott Hillclimb, Gloucs

Post by Dollywobbler »

Was wondering if folk fancied having a club attendance at this event. It's an absolute corker of a weekend. Lots of exciting race action as well as club displays, can-can dancers, French actors and Veyron demonstrations. There is a cavalcade of French classics too - though I think they're charging a fiver a go this year. It's well worth it. It's meant to be taken at a steady pace but they don't seem too bothered with folk driving quickly.

2CVGB and CCC have attended for many years now so we could try and join forces with them (they borrow Citroen's mobile show unit for the weekend) or just do something separate. There's camping all weekend and it's a rather lovely, relaxed affair. You wake in the morning, clamber out of your tent and find yourself surrounded by Bugattis and other French tin!

If people are interested, I'd rather someone else came forward to organise it just because I'm working that weekend at the show, and I don't really want to add another layer of stress!

More details here. http://www.prescott-hillclimb.com/may2011.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Discounted entry for those booked under the club.

I keep meaning to go but either work or finances get in the way - I'll have to see what's happening nearer the date.

/\ Same here. Can anyone do the hill climb or does one need a FIA race licence.

To compete, you need licences. For the cavalcade, you don't need anything. They try and keep speeds reasonable by using Range Rover pace cars, but ease back a bit and you can attack a couple of bends. First time, we got held up by a Morgan that kept stopping to get some space (someone that was part of the event I think!). That was frustrating as we need to keep momentum up in a 2CV!

I'm not sure what I'm going in yet. A Citroen, definitely.

I'll think about this one - probably "out" after 2 weekends away in a row. Would be interesting to visit old haunts through (grew up in Chel'num).

Like the idea of the hillclimb, but the French actors and can-can dancers are equally putting me off even going near Gloucester that weekend :lol:

Gloucester is ok mate, it's the forest you have to be careful of, where everything really is connected to everything....
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...
