Apologies about not being " online " as much as I should.

Post by bx petrol auto saloon »

Dear All.
Firstly, please accept my sincerest apoplogies for not bieng " on-line " as much as I should have been over the last couple of months of last year
As most of you may already be aware that I had to get the cylinder head " skimmed " on my daughters 1.6 Saxo. The car had done a " whopping " 175 miles since the head was done, when the Saxo broke down with " no drive " at all. I checked the transmission fluid to see if the fluid level droppped, when she was started, this was not the case, which meant that the " pump splines " had been " stripped ". This was the case when I removed the " pump rod " with the splines on. I had to drop both the engine and the auto box out through the bottom of the engine bay with my engine crane, as the gearbox was to heavy for me to lift out on my own.
After the engine and the replacement automatic gearbox were refitted, the Saxo was " hunting " when she had got warmed up, I renewed the coolant temperature sensor for the E.C.U. This rectified this fault. Also, the car was idling fine, until you put it into drive, then it would " stall ". I renewed the MAP sensor, This has cured that fault completly and the car is now starting with the correct amount of " fast-idle ". And the Saxo is now running and driving like new, as it should do :D
This has put me back quite a while with all my other work, I need to get a new repair kit for the rear height corrector on the BX and also get it ready for its M.O.T soon.
Anyway, please accept my apoplogies to everyone
All the best
Vince.

Dear Tim.
Firstly, thank-you so much too Tim, it is most kind
Secondly, this is the first year that I have sorned my " show-car ". So she is still nicely tucked away for the winter :!:
Thirdly, so I am a little behind with my " polishing ", if you know what I mean Tim  The nice chap that did all the paintwork on the BX last year, he recommended that I change my wax polish to Poorboys Naty blue. I have only managed to do the BX only the once before it went into the garage for winter. So I really need to have a lot more times to polish her before I make my mind up completely enough to recommended to enyone else as yet Tim :)
Lastly, what is all this project bx/xantia about then Tim :?: if you don,t mind me asking 8)
All the best

Hi Vince

Good to hear from you, you must be THE most politist poster! Be good to see the 16TXI in her glory, regarding polish I always find autoglym to be good, and well priced.

The BX TCT project is very much in its infancy, so not much to report yet.

Great to have you back on here Vince, hope the Saxo behaves itself now! My BX is going beautifully at the moment although I have had one or two issues over the past months which I hope my new battery will help with. I haven't been able to tackle the rust on her yet but am hoping to be able to afford to get it sorted in the spring/summer. When I think of how fabulous yours looked after getting the paintwork done it gives me hope, although I will need a lottery win first!!!

Best wishes,

Jane
