Holy thread resurrection Batman! (bored on a night shift perchance Mike?)

We were told we'd find out 'April or May' - Ian (DW) may have some inside knowledge?

Hoping to find out before Bristol Classic Car Show :)

Yup. Usually around April time, though the entire team that organised last year's show got sacked and replaced, so gawd knows what'll happen this time. The Birmingham team was done away with and the London team has taken over. Bit annoying given that the show seems to go from strength to strength.

I'm afraid I'm going to miss this one, as I'll be in Ireland with Timex visiting the parents.

I have picked up my own display stand over the winter, which I'm busy sorting out ready for Bristol - if we get an NEC stand you're welcome to use it for that.

Assuming it's still about then (& I hope it is), I'm planning to vist it while I'm over there.

If you want a project MK1, isn't that RD from Shepton Mallet kicking around somewhere?

I think we should very much jump on the ethos of never using the same vehicles again - unless they've undergone serious work in the meantime. Some clubs (Skoda Club - I'm looking at you) seem to have the same vehicles every year. What's the point? People much prefer it when you mix things up a bit. I wondered about doing high mileage as a theme - in which case my TZD is probably a contender! (305,000)

Mine too! Although I doubt it will get over 230k miles by then...and much as I like them, two red TZD Turbo estates on the stand might not give the variety you're looking for.

I'd go with Ian's statement that we shouldn't use the same car twice if possible, at the same show at least. There seems to be the same thing with certain stands at the shows at Shepton, although in some cases I can see why - I had a chat with the guys on the Skoda Club stand at the NEC, and some models, like the Rapid convertibles, only exist in single figures in the UK, roadworthy or not.

While many of us can spot and appreciate the differences between the dozens of BX models out there, most of the small differences would be lost on the general public. With this in mind, and with the number of BX's out there, it should be a long time before we have to reuse a car!

Not that I've done much organising other than sending in the application so far, but I entirely agree that we should avoid having the same car twice unless one has undergone significant restoration and we can get a storyboard with it (Timex again next year?!)

The mix that Ian and Tim came up with last year was great as well, we definitely need

a Mk 1
an estate
a performance model - GTi/16v/4x4
a good mix of colours overall with at least one red one (whichever model) because that's the colour everyone remembers
with the exception of 'projects' being shown off *clean and polished* cars - whatever their underlying condition, they need to looked loved and show off their potential

otherwise no decisions being made until we even know whether we've got the stand or not. Once we know, I'll find a mud pit where you can all fight it out (my car isn't in the running BTW).
