The one we removed was dated 1986 (mike sims looked) so must be the original, both radiators have a flared top to the where the filler is....,

Just been looking into it. So if the TRS had one that's angled, it's had a diesel rad before.
Or if the rad you bought has a vertical side, it's not a 1.9D one, it's a 1.9 petrol one (which would explain how you got it so cheap, as diesel ones are £100+ I'm finding!)

Guessing the diesel just carries a bit more water. Seems odd as they seem to take longer to heat up, but then the iron block probably resists cooling more than the alloy ones.

In your case, it matters not. In my case, it might do #-o
Kitch, does the photo below of the one on Tims estate (The original fitment ) help to decipher your description ?

We didn't have them both there to compare but both the old and new rads looked the same as the one fitted to Timex (assuming it's correct of course). It'll be worth comparing it to Tom's GT when we're next down there.

Yes, but he's advised us to check the Citroen price as the last time he did this job for a customer it was just as cheap to buy from them as it was to make the pipe up himself from his raw stock.

One step forward two steps back, new pipes fitted as have new fuel pipe and air filter, but it seems the head gasket may be ruined and the rear suspension won't lift!

Not a good bx day. #-o

Least it was warm!

Image

Someone had eaten the air filter (probably mice, definitely not me).

Image

The door shut was bit a bit naughty when I got it all stripped back. I only had a cordless drill which didn't have enough torque to really grind everything off so it was a 'lick and a promise' type repair. . .

Image

Meshed, glassed, and 'bodged' - I thought I was going to do it again at some point . . . might not be now?

Image

Mike finally got everything connected back up (but not without a bit 'leekage' here and there).

Image

The dawning realisation that it might not just be an airlock in the radiator. :(

Well give it another day of getting, if the head gasket has gone ill try some K seal, if that doesn't work ill offer the car up for scrap money to anyone who can mend it or break it for parts.

Steel seal is meant to be better than K-Seal from what I've heard.
