4x4 thoughts needed??

Post by Ian_Fearn »

What shall i do with the 4x4?

Its been off the road now since january in my garage having various bits and bobs done on it.

I just cannot seem to get the car to idle correctly. Various people have offered advice but i've got a feeling the car needs setting up by a pro.

I hate to pay other people to work on my cars so i've had this idea about converting the car to the later Motronic fuel injection system.

The alternative is to sell the car very cheaply to somebody who has got the time to make it great again, what do people on here think?

Dont sell it Ian, you will regret it and loose a fortune  ! I did with my 16v and it took me 7 years to get it back, and now im paying for it as its in need of a lot of work but its mine and im keeping it! 8)

Keep it.

Its a rare model, and if it was running well you'd have no doubts in your mind. I spent ages trying to get mine running right, even checking resistance on the ECU pins with various stages of ignition!

I think you'd regret it if you sold it.

Take it to John Hannam.I'd had a flatspot for a couple of years which was really p***ing me off. When the head gasket went,John did it and set the engine up perfectly. No more flatspot and a really sweet running engine.I'd previously had injectors cleaned, crypton tuning etc,etc with no success. It may cost a few quid, but it should be worth it

Are you going to Wetherby? If so we'll have a chat and try to sort out some way that you can "borrow" bits off my 4x4,which was running perfectly before it came off the road, and by substituting various bits, maybe we can get to the bottom of your problem
