Estate roof rails

Hi all,

I've just bought my first BX, a well loved if very scrappy looking TZD estate. It's come with a pair of roof rails in good nick which were meant to replace the rusty ones that are fitted, but I don't really see the point given the state of the rest of the car. So, if anyone needs them they're up for grabs. They're in nice order, no rust that I can find, couple of small grazes on the paint but not really noticable, and all the fixings seem to be there.

Say £20 the pair? I'm in central Reading, would need collecting ideally as they're big!

I would be suprised if you get any takers as i dont know of anyone ever replacing these, yourself included but good luck.

The problem is getting the old ones off and dropping the headlining to do it.

Yeah that's fair - if they're wanted they're wanted, if not they're metal for the scrappy. Don't like to waste good parts though. I'll sort some pictures out soon - she's definitely no looker, but I can see myself getting attached.. time will tell! I've also got a couple of electric window switches, don't know if they're sought after? One of mine is a bit temperamental but again it doesn't really seem worth the effort to replace.

Eh? 3 allen bolts per side, screwed in from the top! No need to drop the headlining at all.

I stand corrected, thought they were bolted in from underneath.

I need to get clued up on Estates as I now have one!

The allen bolts may be hidden by rubber plugs, although would have thought they've long since turned to dust by now!

Think mine has black tape over them!

The bit that usually turns to dust/disappears is the rubber gasket that goes between the foot of the rail and the roof itself. I think all of mine on both estates are missing.

I thought these were all aluminium, as they haven't rusted on Timex.

I'll add my request for pics, as it's always interesting to see other people's definition of scrappy.

As requested, pics up in the gallery Looking again at mine, they're not rusted, just the paint is in poor order, so they might well be ally. Heavy as anything though if they are! Think I've got decent rubber gaskets if anyone wants them, will check later.
