There looks to be the start of rust at the bottom of the driver's side B and C pillars (and possibly on the A pillar seam) but it is a lot better than most. I think the rounded tops of the windscreen rubber 'seal' mean it's a pattern item, so it must have had a new windscreen at some point. Probably the reason for the rust - I've seen some fitters who are a lot more careful than others!

I'd send the seller a pm via ebay and gauge his response.

'12 second bid sniping' is par for the course on Ebay isn't it?- 'you snooze you lose' as someone once rightly pointed out, or when in Rome . . .

All's fair in love and auctions it seem to me. What reason has he given you?

Hmm. This is the strangest auction history I've ever seen. All the bids on the final day were cancelled, but obviously this can't work for a last-minute bid. I know you can't revise a listing with less than 24 hours to go, but I think you can end early and cancel all the bids. Very annoying for you! Personally, this listing was looking pretty dodgy to start with and I'm not surprised you've been mucked about. I suspect the seller's got delusions of four-figure grandeur, possibly helped along by this thread. It's best cured by a long cold shower. On the other hand, someone else may have been along from Bet Victor for another commercial!!!

I think the seller has done you a favour mungo dax, the car is in worse shape than a lot of high mileage cars that come up, no loss in my book, you could be buying a lot of pain potentially.

Hi just quick up date , The car was withdrawn from sale, as was not going to let it go for a silly price ( as I believe it was to good for that - many may disagree) so it has now been booked in to the garage, Anglian Refinishing in Cromer for all the A posts, window screen small dent etc to be sort, to bring it up at very good standard. You may see it at the next meeting Gary?

Gary, I think the way you approached the ebay listing could have been handled better. If you thought the car was worth more than what it made at the end of the auction, you should have put a reserve on it. Plenty of good photos sells a car and you had a handful of bids withdrawn when you updated the original photos. The bizarre bid history probably put a lot of potential buyers off and in hindsight, you probably should have pulled the sale at that stage. Fact is, the listing stayed live and Mungo Dax won the auction. You haven't done yourself any favours by backing out of a sale that was won fair and square. It's not great when a listing finishes on a disappointing final price, but that's the nature of auctions and you accept that risk when you put something up for sale.

Having said all that, I think it's great that you are getting the car sorted out and I'm sure there will be plenty of people on here that will look forward to seeing more of this car, and I suspect that some of them might be interested in buying it if you're thinking of selling it. A TZD Turbo in Venetian Red gets quite a few people on here quite exciteable.

Hi regarding the ebay posting, it was my intention to withdraw the car from sale/ from ebay due to the interest it stirred 12 hours before the end , because this got me thinking? what if we kept the car, and repaired it and keep the 'father in law' legacy going. So after discussing it with HER in doors, we agreed to keep the car, However it was unknown to me that ebay had changed their rules, that you can not end the listing early or alter the listings if there is less than 12/24 hours to go. Not knowing this I was frantically cancelling the bids. which can be easily be verified from the history bid log. It was never my intention to upset anyone. so if I have I apoligise.

while my son is only 16 this has made him interest in the BX and wants to show, so we have booked it in for the major work to be done. and then we will do the rest in due course. He may even learn to drive it in? many thanks Gary

Glad its getting sorted Gary, who knows, we may even see you at one of the many car meets this year? Fingers crossed the repair bill isn't too bad, make sure they do a proper job, you don't want that rust ever coming back.

I think mungo dax definitely had a lucky escape, that rust is very nasty. There'll be a better one along soon..
It'll be interesting to see if it's offered for sale again soon having been 'refinished'.
